Hi guy was wondering knows if I can use a pod filter cover for my pod filter because it seems impossible to find a standard air box iv rang up over 20 different wreckers and they don't have any and I need to find a stock air box or enclosed box for my pod to pass a blue slip

Cheers

i dont think a pod filter cover actually encloses it does it? it needs to be fully enclosed, i think most guys just make there own enclosure

i could be wrong but i think a stock cc lancer airbox is the same as a gsr one incase you where asking the wreckers for a gsr one

Oh ok wasn't sure because iv seen some that go inside like a pod made out of metal as I bought my car from QLD needs a blue slip in NSW and it's a pain in the @## trying to find a standard airbox

i dont know if you got the last part i added to my last post as you must have posted when i was editing it?

from above post:

Pretty sure i have a few oem GSR/EVO air boxs in the shed but unsure if i have both parts, i'll let you know next time i go to Sydney and you can have 1

Pod filters on an engine with limited mods are actually a big wank. They wont net you any more power increase at all. In fact it just makes more noise and gives the sense of feeling that it is making more power.
You technically cant pass a blue slip with a pod filter for our model ADR cars without approval. We run Air Flow Meters and it is considered as a modification to the induction system.
As such, an emissions test is required.
Even if you go and get it approved, after fitting one you still need to separate the filter from the rest of the engine compartment by means of a shield or enclosed airbox.
If it is considered that the induction noise of the engine after fitment is louder than OEM by a considerable amount, you may even have to undergo a drive-by noise test too.
Just remember to keep it all stock-like looking or risk a defect from the Police and EPA.
Best thing to do is to keep the stock filter and airbox, cut it from underneath and run a CAI pipe to flow into the airbox better.

Thanks for the info man yeah bought the car with pod on it seems like a hassle to find a stock air box and yes it makes induction noise and you can hear it

the chassis side of the airbox is the same the engine side is different (slightly) just cut the giant noise suppressor off of it and plug the hole also bonus is the gsr uses the same 449 labeled AFM as the std cc lancer so you can get the rear section and mod it and have a spare AFM

Finding a stock air box is becoming such a hassle I might as well dump my uncles E7 motor in my car

tghe reason he says that is they sit in the oposite orientation to our motors it "could be done" but lot and lots of hassle
