Perhaps some people might have read in my introduction post or my signature, that besides the RVR I also have a C50 model Colt and Lancer.

My project's about my 4WD Lancer C77A. That I have a couple of years by now and have driven about 17k km's with. But unfortunately not with numerous problems.
Since I live in europe it's a C77A with a 1.8 litre 8 valve 4G37 engine. The C77A Lancer was the only 4WD model of the Colt and Lancer available in europe. They are quite rare because of the expensiveness when they were new.

But like I said, I mostly had problems with my Lancer. In the 17k km's I've had a couple of head rebuilds, 4 or 5 broken headgaskets and a replaced engine.
Due to problems again which also seem headgasket related. This time with the replaced engine. I have totally had it with the 4G37 type engine.
So I decided to get rid of the 4G37 powerplant and swap it for a 4G67 (the 1.8 litre brother of the 4G61 and 4G63) out of a C58A/C68A Colt/Lancer GTi.

I'm also going to convert the braking system.
In the front an Evo3 brake kit that was used on a C50 Colt that was used for racing.
At the rear i'm going to do a drum to disc conversion. Since the C77A came stock with drumbrakes at the rear in contrary to the C73A that came stock with rear discs.

I have almost all the parts that should get the 4G67 to work in my Lancer 4WD. Most of the parts I can use from the 2WD C58A Colt GTi or my 4WD C77A Lancer.
But I'm afraid I need some parts that only fits the 4WD type Mirage/Lancer with 4G6* engine.

I know the 2WD and 4WD have different center crossmembers. But don't know if the C77A has a different center crossmember than the C73A.
Because I don't have a substitute for the rear engine mount.
If the crossmember is the same I can use the rear engine mount of a C73A, if I can find one.

That's what my plans are.

So my questions are.
- Is the C77A Crossmember the same as the one of a C73A/C83A?
- If yes, where can I find a complete rear engine mount?
- Are there things I might have missed?

First off, that front lip looks awesome!!

Could you post a pic of the engine bay of the 4WD?? What gearbox does it use and what ratio??

You will find the majority of the 4WD cars in this era use the same stuff throughout the models. I Have a C73a crossmember here to compare if you want. You should be able to get an engine mount made up for it? How come you're not opting for a 4G61T or even a 4G63T??

These lip's are quite rare in Europe. They only came on the 1992 EXE models. I have them on both the Colt and Lancer.

According to ASA it has the W5M31-2 SRBC Gearbox and Transfer assy, With VCU.
I'll have to check on the gearbox itself to be sure. I'ts winter overhere and the car is covered in snow. As soon as I've checked it i'll let you know.
My Lancer is also equipped with the optional Viscous LSD rear axle. According to ASA the ratio is 2.846
I have a spare gearbox and a spare rear axle with an open differential.

I found out that the C73A has the same crossmember as my C77A. And has almost the same engine mount as the C73A exept for a sloped section.

Due to regulations. Officially you have to re-register your car if you have an increase in power more than 30% or increase in engine capacity. This swap is only just over the edge of the 30% (if the engine was new).
If you have to re-register your car it has to go through a bunch of test. Of which are sound tests, brake tests, handling tests, etc, etc.
All those tests make it very expensive like a couple thousand euro's.
Most people don't re-register it. But when you get into an accident or get pulled over and checked and find out that the engine is way more powerful than stock. The car will be ceased and impounded.
The only way to get it back is to re-register it or build it back to stock. And then you also have the huge fine and in case of an accident the insurance company probably won't pay out.

With the 4G67 engine it still is an 1.8 and the power increase is 40% (from 97hp to 136hp stock specs when new).

4G61T never came to europe. Neither did the 4G63T officially.
It would be way more expensive than this.
Once I get it upgraded to fit an 4G6 engine the 61T and 63T also should fit.
 
I'm desperately in need of a C73A/C83A 4WD rear engine mount to finish the swap.

Is there anyone that has a spare rear engine mount out of a C73A or C83A Lancer/Mirage 4WD and willing to sell it?
Of course I'll pay for the part and shipping. I have paypal.

This is the mount I need. On the firewall side of the engine.

It bolts on to the back of the engine, crossmember and side of the transfer case.

I have everything to complete the swap except for the rear engine mount. Please help me out.

Thanks mate. I know people often don't wan't to send stuff abroad. But since it's not a fragile part I really hope that someone has one lying around. And is willing to send it to this side of the world.

Yeah that would be my very last resort. I'd rather use a genuine Mitsubishi part. And I will probably have to hoist the engine and gearbox in and out a couple of times to get it fit correctly.
 
I've read that you'll need a different flywheel when you're taking a FWD 4G6 engine en put it in an 4WD car.

The stock 4G37 engine has a 5 bolt flywheel and the 4G67 engine out of the FWD GTi has a 6 bolt flywheel.
Can I keep the 4G67 flywheel or do I need a different one?

My gearbox code is: W5M31-2 SRBC
 
From what I have learnt recently, you need the flywheel and starter plate to suit the gearbox you using. W5m is awd 5 speed manual. So you need the 6 bolt (suit your g67 engine) awd flywheel. Source from vr4 and 1g awd cars. They can be had for around $100us used and I think there was one in our for sale thread on here.
If the tooth count is the same as your gti wheel, then your starter plate will suit. I think you will need a suitable starter plate.
