Regarding VIN numbers:

1) Is your number stamped on the firewall different to the compliance plate?

2) Does your VIN on your rego papers read JMFCC... or JMFJCD5A..

I've seen conflicting information, some people claim their VIN has CC in it while other VIN's have CD5A or similar..

Rego VIN/Chassis number (on rego papers) is JMFCC*********
Edit: Compliance plate (located on firewall)
is JMFCC******
The model number plate (located underside of bonnet)
is CD5A*****

Mine is an Australia delivered GSR.

this is pretty common;coreys is a good example

jmfcc vin is the number given to the car in oz
cd5a is model/jap vin

Apparently Mitsubishi stuffed up during the 90s and issued the same VIN to muliple cars too.

I found this out when the police rocked up on my door one morning to tell me that my car had been recovered and was sitting in the police impound yard .. they were pretty confused when I pointed to my car in the driveway.
