I'm from the Philippines and a newbie here

I already transplanted a 4g63 non turbo from a RVR in my CB Lancer

I heard that a RVR engine is a hi compression engine producing what people claim here to have 160ps

Is this a myth or a fact? I just want to clear things out since I know a Galant VR4 or GTi here in the Philippines makes 145ps.

Thanks in advance

Welcome!

All GVR4 4G63 are turbo and should produce closer to 200PS.
You're doing well to get 160PS out of a non turbo 4G63.
I know the comp ratio of the VR4 engine is 7.8:1 whereas a turbo RVR motor is 8.5:1.
I'm not sure if non-turbo is the same however.

User xjokux has installed a VR4 engine into his CB. Nippy little things they are.

The only 4g63 I've know to come close to that power figure was the 6 bolt engine that AMG did for the gallant in 1989 and that had 170ps, as regard an rvr 7 bolt N/A engine producing 160ps I think that 's a bit optimistic.

Comp ratio is around 9.0:1 or so as far as I know, they weren't marketed as performance engines in atmo form.

If you compare the engine to a normal 2.0 litre family car engine today you'll get around 130ps or 100 kw maybe a touch more, but the rvr engines are old now and if it's not been built for high compression I wouldn't even expect that

much.

Answer to more power from a 4g63? = Turbo

thats what im thinking
they say a RVR engine has a 10.0 compression ratio and the one in the Galant is lower.
therefore more people are getting the RVR engine without any proof of it being stronger.

Turbo.. not my cup of tea :) not really into going hella fast.

I changed my SOHC 4g92 engine cos it seized.. dang mechanic did something that made the oil dry up.
So instead of doing a rebuild bought a bigger engine.

well mates.. here in the Philippines peeps tend to upgrade hondas
with mitsus they usually gun for the 4g63 turbos from the evos coming from Japan
im not so sure if there are stroked NA 4g63 running here but its a good project maybe get the sohc 4g67 conrods
