hey all
i have been told that to fit a t3t4 turbo to a vr4, the radiator has to be moved to where the stock intercooler is.
is this true, or is there a way around it. does it also mean a t3t70 wont fit

Thats a fairly big turbo- are you sure you want such a lag monster on your car?

a t3/4 turbo will fit in the stock location,an old friend had a vr4 that had t3/4 with an adaptor plate made up to fit the standard exhaust manifold, car was slow as though, would be better to have a custom manifold and that way you can place it abit better.you can get a fairly big turbo in between the head and radiator befor ethe radiator needs moving which would render the car illegal i assuming for you guys?

yeah i had also planned to get a tuned length manifold external gate and maybe screamer too. how lagy is the t3t4

depends which t3t4, there's a massive number of different t3t4 combinations (like, hundreds).

more info pls :)

Or are you talking about the T70?

everything is stock at the moment, altho i do intend on opening up the exaust and do somthing with the intake, and upgrade fuel pump. is there anything else i need to do or should do that i have missed

What do you want to do though? Put a big turbo on??

Its hard to give you any advice without some basic info to work off :)

yes i am lookin to fit a big turbo, more than likly some form of t3/t4
i am aiming more towards high power mid to high rev range idont mind a little lag down low but from what my mate told me (the one that said i had to move the radiator) his had a bit of work done with a t3/t4 and his came on boost at 3000rpm
really what i want to know is what i have to replace to run it safely (other that the obvious stuff to fit it) such as will the stock injectors and fuel pump or ecu handle it
thanks for any info

You will have to do something to the ecu to get rid of fuel cut at 14psi if you want to run more boost than that. What you do will depend on what sort of vr4 you have (prefacelift J spec, Aus Spec, or facelift J Spec).

How about getting 250-280 hp out of your 14B before worrying about upgrading the turbo.

I agree with CLuTZ, a TD05 16G is a cheap easy bolt on upgrade with plenty of potential.

As I said before there are hundreds of t3t4 combinations, one which comes on boost at 3000rpm isn't going to give you 'big power' it's going to give you pretty much what a 16G or 20G will but be alot more hassle/expense to fit.

What do you plan to do with the car?
what times do you want to run?
how much power do you think you need?

if you just want a 'big turbo' under the bonnet, get a TD05/06 hybrid and make a high mount manifold
