Radiator cooling

Hi all, because I have a bigger turbo and custom manifold I cant fit the stock thermo fan behind the radiator in the engine bay and probably not even a slimline all the way along either (the manifold comes to about 10-15mm off the radiator and is ceramic coated). I want to keep aircon so dont really want to remove the climate control and get rid of the condensor either... :roll: What have some of you done and can anyone offer any options that I might be able to take? The radiator can fit a couple of small fans one above the other to the left of the filler cap maybe but its only going to cover maybe 40% of the radiator :?

Here's an old pic but you can see what it looks like up front and the area I can only fit fans in. Will fans at the front of the condensor but behind the intercooler offer enough cooling through the condensor and to the radiator? You boys would know as I havent sussed it out :roll:

The photo below is of the free area behind the radiator - I havent put intake or icoola plumbing on yet until I decide what to do about this. cheers.

double jumper the big aircon fan, to work with either the engine temp and/or aircon, not sure if the ECU will mind that option but :roll:

Let's say that this is the stock Lancer/EVO setup (close enough)...

I was thinking maybe do something like this on the inside with smaller slimline units??? Wouldnt something be better than nothing? or will the little ones do stuff all except eat up power? :roll:

do you have these fans in the pictures or are they just pictures of someone elses setup for an example? If you have the fans I reckon they should do enough if you have all 4. Should be able to check it out, after running the car for about 10 mins they should come on and if they are effective they will shut off once they have cooled down the coolant enough, if they never switch off I'd say they arnt good enough!

or get mikey to make a new mani and sell this one to someone who doesnt want aircon...

are you sure that you want the aircon taking up an output Rob... you could be using this output for launch control or something :wink:

Yeah Missile because of my health the hot weather really effects my breathing so I would like to be able to drive the car around all months of the year and keep aircon and the climate control :roll: As for your launch control.... pffft gimme aircon over that anyday :lol:

try and maintain 1 large one, as it will flow more than 2 smaller ones..

if room is tight,possibly share the aircon one with the radiator...
sux mate, i was in the same shoes with my water / air heat exchanger.. couldn't do anything about it really...

just make sure u dont stop at a light!

just note, when looking at fan dimensions, take into consideration the lumps and bumps on the motor.. companies tend to forget that part...
