hey guys, it's like 25 degrees here to day, and i went for a 150 km drive, boosted a little. I popped the hood and only 1 fan is running. The fan that is front on the a/c condenser is running, but the fan on the inside near the battery is not. When should this fan be running? and how can i test it? (no the car was'nt overheating, holding just about half on the temp gauge)

The radiator fan turns on and off when the car needs
cooling. It's not meant to run all the time. It will turn on
for say 10-15 seconds than switch off etc.

allow the car to idle ....no A/C on. it may take a while but eventually the fans shouldl kick in. pretty much they should both run together......so if that one is not working check the connection plug. if that fixes it good. if not....
on the fan motor there is two wires.....to test the fan trace the wires back to the plug and then put some other wires you will make up onto the terminals. put the ends of the wires you have made up onto the battery and see if the fan turns.....yes....fan ok....check for wiring faults no....fan stuffed. Buy new fan

just by the way if the fans dont come on by the time the temperature guage reaches 2/3s of the range its fair to assume they are not going to work. in this case use an alternative method of cooling such as a running hose on the radiator to prevent overheating.

if the fans dont work you better find an auto sparky

just to confirm something

lets say your aircon isn't on and your just driving around and then you let it idle.

When its time for cooling, shoud both the thermo and AC fan both be running at the same time and switch off together? or should only the thermo fan come on and then off while the AC fan remains off the whole time (unless AC is being used)

I asked this question in another post but didnt get full clarification

"or should only the thermo fan come on and then off while the AC fan remains off the whole time (unless AC is being used)"
that's the one.
(note: this is going by what happens on my unmodded
CD5A GSR w/4G93t 1.8L engine)

just some input on that, the car has never reached any higher than 1/2 on the guage. Even on a hot day and boosting hard, so it must work?.

Yeah, you should be fine. It would guess that it goes on, but you just haven't seen it while it's been on yet. No worries. Keep an eye on the temp gauge
