radio memory not working in e39a vr4

hey everyone i have been trying to get the memory in my radio to save but everytime i turn the ignition off it resets itself. i have ran a line from the batter straight to the constant wire and nothing. any suggestions? also front speakers not working

fixed the memory problem just don't have an idea on how to fix the font speakers

My process for the front speakers would be:

Check the fade is not all the way to the back in the headunit settings - considering that it was resetting itself every time this is unlikely to be a problem.

Cut the speaker wires on the loom immediately after the radio harness connector and temp wire in a speaker to confirm the headunit is working correctly and the speaker actually works.

If it does then there must be a break in the loom somewhere. Might as well run new wires at this stage with upgraded wire.

If they are component speakers then you also need to check the crossover.

Speaker itself could be fucked too. Which would be identified by one of the above steps.

Best way to check is get a 9v batter connect speaker cable to it and if you hear a little crackling noise speakers work, its also best way to identify which speaker is from left and front right.

thanks for the info guys, pulled the harness out to find another 3 wires hidden. i don't know why they were but once i hooked them up the speakers started working
