Can you post up photos of the damaged area ? Its possible to repair some damage... but its more economic to chase down a working ecu sometimes.

What state are you in ? Every state seems to have a resident electronics guy in this forum...

Im in NSW. mainly interested in info on the ECU itself. Has a chip in that has written on it "Group N rally New Zealand" I think the printed circuts are beyond repair.
Is there any way to find out what tune is on the Chip?
Will post some pics if i can find my camera!

It is easy enough to read the chip.. particularly if there is a socket on the board for the chip to sit in. If the chip is soldered in, it could be carefully unsoldered and then read. If there is some one close by to you with electronics experience, they could help. Where in NSW are.. "attn Mitsi electronic specialists". Other wise , post it to me in Adelaide, and I can read it...

just opened it up again (havent looked at it for a while) Its a socketed dual board
Guy i bought the car of said it was a "ex mitsubishi works rally ECU"
had a very agressive idle and reved very freely when it was working he claims (never worked when i got it)
If i could post it to you and find out if its suitable for my
VR4 rally car that would be great. just fitted a new 16G still has 450cc injectors but have a set of 560cc if the chip will work with them,
standard AFM. Ive got another of these ECUs that is in good nick that i can solder the socket into.

I had one of these dual board ECU's in a VR4 rally car, with a Ralliart chip. It went well at the time, and the tune came up well on the dyno.

Our chip was soldered in, where yours has a very convenient socket. I didnt actually remove the soldered chip, and I am unsure if I have a definition file to read it ?? We replaced the dual board ECU with a single board so that I could write my own chip and do some data logging ( this is years ago). The definition files were sort of available back then for the single boards... I knew some Mitsi Calibration engineers here in Adelaide ! Now with the release of the ECMLink v.3, I exclusively use these and a single board ECU in all my early Evo and VR4s. I suggest you do the same ! It is a lot more convenient to tune with.

Yes i think your right, ECMlink looks a good thing. I better start looking for a single board ECU.
Havent got a spare one have you haha.
they seem a bit rare in Australia, is that right?
