hey guys

just want to know if there any options out there to run 5 stud on a vr4 rear end? or libero as a matter of fact.

I know there a 265mm rotor, im wanting to upgrade the front to 5 stud but there rear has got me stumped, I don't want to spend extra cash to get the rotors redrilled each time.

cheers, ben

nope fto are 260mm

next question would it matter if there not an exact fit.. like 5mm off? aslong at the hat is the same it should work right?

yeah magna wont work, havnt look at legnum yet.

yeah I have to get the axles drilled out but I don't want to do it everytime I do a disc change, but if I cant get any then ill just have to do it.

but yeah I running 5mm spacers atm on the back

i've been looking thorugh the dba parts catalogue and i can only find front rotors in 265 and they're the hg galant fronts and there noting with the same dimensions in 5 stud.

if you could give me the following measurements it'd be great

overal disk diam = 256
front face of disk (wheel mating point) to back of disk =
thickness of disk =
and center bore hole =

knowing these i can try find a disk from the dba catalogue with the same or similar dimensions. worst case you step down to 260mm or 256mm and use the rear caliper from the matching vehicle. (not sure if vr4 legnum was 5 stud?)

edit TR magna are 276mm with seemingly correct dimensions so maybe tr magna rear calipers and disks

after a lot of searching i come across this.. ive been told there that same as the vr4 rear brakes, so here are vr4 specs..

Vent Solid
Diameter 265
Height 49
Thickness 10
Min Thickness 8.4
Centre Hole Dia 90
Bolt holes 4

I have found something that is getting closer but its 3mm smaller in diameter and 11mm taller in the height. its off a outlander

also the fto is pretty much the right one except its 5mm small and 8mm short, which could be fixed with a spacer behind the rotor.

but its still smaller then the original size

ummm nope a spacer behind the rotor won't help the measurements on all need to be right. diam can be smaller will just need to alter the pads so the friction surface doesn't overlap the disk the specific ones that need to be right are

over all heigh mating face to back of disk (if this isn't right your disk wont go in the caliper.) this is probably THE most important. as if this is not right the disk will never fit the rest can be altered/machined to suit
center bore (need to be right to fit over the hub)

theres nothing except hg galant that matches that hat height your best bet might be to get some hg/hh galant disks sent out as blanks (no pcd drilled) dba will do this and then drill your own pcd.

another option is to hope they do the 5000 series and buy a set of those this way you only have to replace the disk surface and can transfer your drilled hat from one set to the next. but tbh for how often you will change rear disks just get a set sent out as blanks and drill them yourself you'll do it once every 100-200 thousand km's

Can you order a set of discs from say dba or rda to suit your sizes but have them drilled 5 stud instead of 4? I remember a mighty car mods ep where they visited one of the above and had custom ones made

At least this way they will come drilled correctly and you won't have to take them to a machine shop and have them drilled

you can contact them and say you want dba 403 with a 5x114.3 (i'm assuming) pcd

maybe look into evo 5 -9 rear calipers and disk the diam is larger the hat height is deeper (will need to space the caliper back to match the friction surface) but if it was me i'd order the dba 403's drilled in a 5x114.3

it should cost no more the dba 403 t2's next stage up from basic disk is custom order anyway meaning they have to make them to send out. also contact RDA rotors drums australia they will probably also do the same thing. worst case you have to get a blank and pay $60 to the nearest guy with a drill press and template

got in contact with dba today. according to the lady I spoke to they don't directly deal with "modding" the rotors. she put me onto someone local that helped me out.

dba also don't sell the 403's as blanks either

but ive spoken with the local people and they are very onto it and have a few options for me, so once im ready to do the 5 stud upgrade then ill be in contact with them.

Do you have vr4 rotors on the rear at the moment ? Ive got a spare set i wont be using anytime soon you can experiment with if you want them they are down in bunbury free for pick up if your ever down this way

Called Rda today, can't help either

So back to plan A

But croket, yeah the libero has the same size rotors, but cheers, I'll just wait til I'm ready to do my 5 stud upgrade before I order them
