I have a evo 6.5 gearbox, transfer and rear diff in my evo 4 and i am still having issues with the AYC, it howls its head off when i take a corner sometimes the noise is worse sometimes its not even there... But the pressure of the pump has been checked and it was fine, the clutch plates in the diff where all so inspected and they all so where fine.. Ive pretty much got the shits with the whole AYC rear end... Ive tried getting my hands on a LSD rear end which i must say are as rare as rocking horse shit and the one that i did find for sale was 5k just for the diff...
Are there any other alternatives? does someone do the lsd's or aftermarket diff set ups for evo's ??

Sounds strange that you should get a howling noise sometimes around corners.

You can get aftermarket LSD centres to eliminate the AYC. You will need to do something with the driveshafts to make it work.

Your best option would be to find a EVO IV diff at a better price, try New Zealand or Japan.

The car has just been serviced by the mitsu dealer including all oils no more than 1000km's ago, but the diff still made the noise before then i was just hoping an oil change would get rid of the noise....Its currently getting the clutch plates cleaned by the local mitsu dealer in town as they say they have heard of cleaning them and it solving the problem... This sounds really sus to me cause im a mechanic by trade but i suppose i have heard of wierder things fixing problems...

It started off doing it every now and then but it gradually got worse and worse.. how it is at the moment i cant take a corner without it howling, and im 110% its the diff... No problems when driving strait just when i corner..Will i have to get RS axles if i get the lsd rear end? Thankyou for the info looks like ill keep searching for a genuine LSD. :D

Did they service the AYC as well?

I had to have the oil changed in mine and the system bled and it got rid of the whale in the boot.

The diff oil and the ayc oil are different I believe.
