whats the deal with rebirths when it comes to vin numbers?

im currently looking at 2 evo 5's

(i wont state the whole vin number)

ones vin starts off with 6T9REP

and the other starts with JMFSNCK

both have similar engine number 4g63XK

just find it weird???

any suggestions?

how do we know its done properly?

Id go with the 6T9REP as thats a vic roads type number they stamp in the firewall/strut tower.

As for the other one.........

Im sure someone already posted some info on the forum about this subject?

but confused about the JMFSN vin

i've called vic roads and ran a check and they say its all good?

what would the JMFSN vin number be?

anyone seen any other similar?

JMFSN is the previous rebuild scheme before the changes in 99.

sweet so maybe safer to say to stick with something thats been rebuilt awhile longer?

Wouldnt any car be sweet if you just double check with Vic Roads before you buy it? Maybe even get something in writing??
