Hey guys, i was just wondering if people could tell me the kinds of prices a rebuild of a 4G63 usually is?

I tried a search but couldn't find anything

Recently i've been kind of idley wondering about getting my engine fully rebuilt, it hasn't been maintained so well, and i'd just like to start fresh i guess, so depending on what kinds of prices this would usually cost will let me decide whether or not to look into a bit further

Cheers

depends if you do it yourself,

if you did, i would guess around $1500+ just in parts,

double that easy if you got a work shop to do it.

mmm yeah it depends if your doing it yourself
what parts u wanna use
n what upgraded path u wanna take...

i upgraded my 4g93t n spent... well god knows cause its JUST not finished yet, but around $4000+ but theys on the best performance n brand names... so it all depends

Ah yeah i should have mentioned, i'm not doing it myself (if i did, it would be bad :p)

Thanks for the fast replies, i kind of figured i'd be looking around the 5k mark

Would it be wise to maybe have 6 or even 7k just in case the price blows out a bit due to expensive parts?

ive done mine 2wce

hey mate,
ive rebuilt my EVO 1 twice now both have cost me between 6 and 7k.
The first time i replaced my clutch while the motor was out. and the valves and stuff.

The second time because they never fixed the problem the first time was a cast sleeve in one cylinder and the rest just replaced internals.

What was the exact cause to make you rebuild it?
make sure you find it and i strongly recommend a dyno tune after just to make sure that everything is sweet. I regret not getting it done straight away, i was waiting till i ran the motor in but it never got the chance and melted a piston to the block...

All good now though and am putting 15k under the bonnet when i get back.

Good luck

Sofar I've spent just on $6K getting all new pistons, rods, head machining, balancing, seals, studs, belts, cams, block machining for my 4G63 rebuild.

Work to the 'Pi Factor'. Make an estimate as to how much (and how long!) you anticipate then multiply it by 3.14. You'll need spare $$$ allocated in your budget for little things like if you bust an oil ring (like me!) and find you need to replace it, or just general consumables like paint, degreaser, grease, lubricants etc. I'm building my new engine up myself with help from Andrew V at CVAP so am fortunate labour won't cost an arm and a leg if I'd relied upon a workshop to do it for me.

Can quite easily see how alot of $$$ can go under a bonnet if you use good quality parts and want to do the job properly first time around.
