i need to rebuild my turbo. i would return it but chances are the damage wasn't caused by the actual turbo itself.

anyone recommend someone? i need a fast changeover cos it's holidays, i need work so i need the car. if i cant get a fast changeover what are alternatives? buy a cheap 2nd hand turbo and put it in while i send my one away to get it rebuilt?

i bought my current turbo from extremepsi..

it's blowing heaps of blue smoke on idle and under boost.. took it to mechanic this week cos he suspected it might be my valve stem seals, but my head was reco around 3000km ago! upon inspection he found the head was fine which came to the conclusion it's my turbo..

Which mechanic is this??

caused by the low oil pressure problem?
could have worn the seals..

how fast is fast?
is it a full tdo5 070 16g?

if u want it done properley, buy a 14b turbo and drive around with that while the 16g gets ported / bigger wastegate flapper / back cut (why rebuild it stock when u can rebuild it for more power =))

go a sierra wheel even...
give it to jstyle, he has a good relationship with atp (kyp) who is probably tdo5 king in vic....

Kyp is the man, ported the wastegate and put a bigger flapper[BA Falcon} and then u wont get boost creep.

i heard the turbo you bought was a chinese copy cos of the casting.. it was too neat of a casting in the rear end to be factory from mitsubishi..

your best bet is get one from kyp... he sells genuine MHI turbos for $1700.. dont tell me you can buy genuine MHI for cheaper in aus cos the place in sydney that sells them doesnt sell genuine MHI..

otherwise for a hiflow your looking at over 1k anyways.

or juts spend $250 and buy a TD04L from a gsr and slap it on.. return the car to stock and you wont have any problems ;)

have a look at the comarision between factory MHI an aftermarket rear housings in the above pic.

this is what i think is a genuine MHI. it has all the factory like mounts.. same style.. it also has the factory stamp.. actuator and the rear housing is rough as guts.. 99% sure this is genuine!

That one above is 100% Genuine Jon.

This one:

Is also genuine, see the lack of adjustable actuator rods?

THIS one however has the adjustable rod:

Any mitsu turbo that says it has an adjustable rod is the fake.

You can clearly see on the REAL mitsu turbos the non adjustable rod.

Pretty easy really..........
