Hey guys,

Is anyone else using this stuff, or has used this stuff in the past?

Since putting it in to the gearbox it seems to have made the driveline really noisey on decelleration, when youre in gear still but not on the accelerator..

any thoughts?

Lightweight shockproof is a GL5 oil, it eats our synchros. I use a mix of Redline MTL and MT90 in mine and it doesn't grind at all anymore.
I do use Lightweight in the Transfer case and diff though.
I'd change my oil if I were you Dan.

OK thanks Tim ..

so its OK in the Xfercase and Rear Diff. What percentage of MT90 and MTL do you use in the gearbox?

Dia queen all the way stopped using shock proof for the same reasons listed above we call it alien blood

That's crazy .. I've always used shockproof in my car, and have never had problems getting gears (even at 9k rpm).

My driveline is really noisy under the same circumstances too, but I'm pretty sure that it's a function of clutch design rather than the oil in the box.

maybe i should try take a vid of it and see if its a similar noise to what your getting??

John where can I get some of this Diaqueen stuff from ??

Sure, I'm happy to have a listen. Two of my mates VR4s did the same thing - one put a stock centred clutch back in and the noise was gone. I actually spoke to Chris Meek about it (probably 12 months ago), and he diagnosed it as clutch design too (aftermarket clutches don't have the rubber bushes in the centre like the stocker does - this dampens out vibration, etc).

I run that Valvolene DuraGear synth gear oil in the FWD cars and its great and provides a smoother, quieter change. My brother uses it in his AWD EVO box, the feel of the shifts are better, but sometimes his gears crunch and I'm not sure if its at any fault of the oil. We might give it a change to something else though to see if it makes a difference.

I've always been a big fan of Castrol oils all round for everything else so I might try what they offer in the 'Syn' range http://www.castrol.com/castrol/multipleproductsection.do?categoryId=8000016&contentId=7000384

I went to autobahn etc and found that you need syntrans which only come is 1litre($30each) for a 4wd GSR 1.8T

I have always used castrol and never had a issue

I've used quite a few different brands and found dia queen to be the best on my set up PS: I do have a Cusco single plate clutch also with no rubber just springs and Dia-Q so far has been the best for shifting and least amount of noise.

Sounds like you're getting the same noise as what matress and I both had with our 3-Puk exedy's, and apparently its clutch 'reverbaration' like what steve is saying.

you get used to it after a while, just turn the sounds up 8)

It sounds like the noise is coming from your rear diff . but the cause of the sound comes from clutches with no rubber dampers in the clutch plate only springs like >

as siad above you just put up with the chattering and turn the sounds up ;)

Redline oils are a good way to waste money and destroy your gearbox and driveline components. But its good stuff. No one can tell you what its made of but I hear it can cure arthritis.
