hey ya'll
is there any reason why the air box and the battery cannot be changed around?
i would like to move my battery up to where my air box is, and then have the air intake to the turbo go directly behind the light and get a new intake obviously...
anyone know why mitsu designed it this way? theres gotta be a reason...
and i cant fit my battery in my boot so forget that one... plus will the battery fit where the airbox goes? i cant see any reasons why not..
thoughts??

My car is setup exactly like that.

I have a rather small battery though .. I think you'll struggle to fit a normal sized battery up there.

I've got a yellow top too .. and there was no way it'd fit where my odyssey sat.

Yeah, I have a pic somewhere, I'll try and dig it up.

u know i just posted this thread so i could see a pic of ur engine bay :D
lol watta beast. :)
ahh ur cooler piping gets in the way, mine sorta goes under so i'll b right i reckon
ima give it a crack :)

Sorry, but can i ask what you've done with your catch can setup?. i can see the hoses coming off both breathers, i'm assuming going to your catch can, but does your can have a filter?

I've got a catch can with no filter, and was trying to work out how to install it properly. Do you just run the tubes from the can to the rocker breather and pcv on the rocker cover, then block off the intake manifold and intake pipe?

i had that setup on my lancer.. battery in place of air box and pod where battery was.. its not hard to setup.. just use the airbox mounts and weld some pieces of metal to surround the battery.. make sure its nice and firm and doesnt wobble around when u turn corners...

Dean, I was looking at doing the same thing as in my post a few weeks ago http://4gtuner.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8366 . I still havent gotten to that stage yet as I am concentrating on other things atm. I would like to know what you end up doing in the meantime if its OK as it would prob help me out as well :)
will do Rob,
in contrast to ur post i've got an optima yellowtop which is quite a large battery, to run my pretty big system, so ima have a crack at getting this to work
i've just lost my licence too so i'll have 6 months to play around with it
will keep u posted

cos u got a big ass battery... ever thought of swapping the wiper bottle in the position of the air box and the air box in position of the battery and the battery in position of the wiper bottle? it would work.. ud obviously have to run longer wires.. but means u can still kepe ur system kicking over.

Jon

just put it in the boot dean and be done with it .... surely you can hide it somewhere behind all the audio gear in there?

And Steve, your engine bay is shweeeeet as 8)

That doesnt sound like a 1/2 bad idea, I'm sure if you look around the pick a part wreckers you will be able to find a different washer bottle that is smaller and a better shape for relacation in any old car

Mine sits down in front of the driver wheel out of sight, and yep it has a breather on it. How many fittings are on your catch can? Technically it should vent back into your intake for legality, but regardless of where it vents to, it does need to vent somewhere. If it's a sealed unit, then it'll do nothing for reducing pressure inside your motor.

Thanks steve. Looked a bit harder and worked it all out. Got a cusco one with no breather, and all sorted now. cheers.

haha,
nope there is definitely no room in my boot.
ima play round with this n get this happening
i'm on a mission!!
