Ok so I have installed my new rad...
Now I want to use the stock thermo sensor for now and have installed it in the top of the themostat housing.

Now the problem... The fan turns on to early and does not let the car get any warmer, runs at about 68 degrees with the fan on all the time !

Is it because the sensor is in the housing ? Does it have to sit in the bottom of the Radiator ?

Other option for me is to run a wire from the ecu to a relay for thermo control just more work for me !

You should weld an adaptor bung in at the bottom of the radiator tank. From memory , its an unusual thread .. 16x 1.5 , did mine a few months ago.

I had thought of that blackvr... But for that effort I can wire in a relay and run it off the wolf ecu !

Was just trying to see if anyone ran the sensor in the thermostat housing with any luck ? Tho it seams the temp is to warm for the sensor in there !

I had to run my water temp gauge sensor temporarily in that spot when i put my vr4 motor in the MGB car,all that happens is that it reads cold till the thermostat opens then reads the engines temp.so basically it should work ,the only difference is that in the bottom of the radiator you will be reading a cooler temp then in the thermostat because the water has been cooled through the radiator first. In some of the early magnas that had metal tank radiators they had thermofan switches on the thermostat housing but on the engine side of the thermostat.

But on saying that, when i had a wiring issue on my eterna thermofan which was factory setup,I had to temporarily run the fan all the time off the battery. My gauge still sat halfway and never ran too cold.

How old is your thermostat?,and how long does your car take to heat up in the morning? My car with a new thermostat is normal temp within 5min and never moves off half way no matter how i drive or even boosting up a steep mountain while towing a trailer and family in the car. But when my first thermostat went, it got stuck in the half open position,so it took ages to heatup(about 10-15min) and varied alot on driving style.
