Hi there,

I have just purchased a "purpose built" dump pipe to suit my garrett turbo T28 series.

I dont know if the bend is going to be tight enough to not foul on the oil filter.

Will I need to relocate the oil filter?

What engine?
Id assume you have a custom manifold too? It would depend the shape of that aswell.
Why not just get a custom dump/front pipe made up?

Umm... i forgot to mention its on a 4G93T motor.. filter "z436" still apply?

Here's my relocation kit.
I dont have a 'before' pic, but as you can see, you'd have to have a really really small filter to fit in there.
But thats a TD05 on standard manifold, and 'standard shaped' dump pipe.
I'd say you're custom "Purpose built" dump would hit.

When you say purpose built, do you mean to suit CC engine's or to simply suit you're particular turbo??

4G93T with standard manifold (outlet opened up a bit though) and custom adaptor plate..

If anything the turbo sits 30mm lower than "standard" only..

I currently have a custom mild steel "thrown together" piece of sh*t, made by an exhaust shop.. the one I have bought is more "free flowing", off "geekbay"...

maybe a picture will help?

The relocation adaptors are actually Honda ones. Just gotta make sure the thread patterns match up.
Off the top of my head cant remember the thread size etc, if you search it should be on here.
I got them from US ebay, they're a pretty good quality billet unit.
Then I got some earls fittings and braided hose from Pirtek.

the OEM mitsubishi oil filter for the evo1-3 is much stubbier than the ryco oil filter, but it compensates it by being larger in diameter.

They cost as much as the Ryco stuff. You can give that a go.

as above thats what I did, I ditched the relocation kit and just run a genuine filter
now, clears my split dump fine

Ok.. picture of turbo and filter in question with current mild steel dump pipe....

looks fine, maybe wrap or coat the dump if your worried about the heat.

or shield the oil filter

Yep... I have wrapped the oil filter in the past with this current mild steel dump pipe..

But should clarify that the clearance issues i am talking about are with the newly purchased "3mm stainless dump pipe" that I will have by the weekend...

I will post up pictures and outcomes of this issue upon fitment of my new oil pump and dump pipe as soon as its done.... Oh... and relocation kit if required..

Thanks guys..

Good to see some experiments going on Smutt fingers crossed for you it will clear a mitsu stubbie filter

Okay, i fitted the new oil pump on the weekend and dummy fitted the new dump pipe.

It wont fit as it was supplied (but thats ok), the longer sweeping bend is about 70 degrees and it fouls with the oil filter and the air conditioning compressor.

So i will get it modified further so the bend is at least 90 degrees maybe more.. this should clear the A/c compressor but I suspect a relocation kit will be needed..
Here is the pic of the dummy fitment.
