Results are in!

Relocation kit fitted. New Dump Pipe Fitted. Took it to the Drags last wednesday.

Got an increase of 5mph, went from 112mph to 117mph!

Needless to say I am very happy!

This was the ONLY change I made to the engine.

stupid oil filter location

been cruisin in my gsr for a few months now. 93T loving it, keep dreaming about evo's tho.

couple of weeks ago started dropping oil. alot of oil, could not really figure it out apart from maybe oil filter seal was gone. this was a new filter put on the car when i got it so not very old. used the coopers WZ411, little smaller diameter over the ryco W411.
maybe 2mm smaller. but was enough to clear my td05/16g dump pipe.

stuffed around for a while trying to get another coopers wz411 as the Z411 didnt fit on.
finally got one and put it on.

oil leak fixed. . . for a week.

tried tightening up the filter, still leaking.

pulled it off and found a nice hole burnt into the side of it from the dump pipe.

so i spoke to some friends in the business of car parts and we figured out there was alot more filters that could be used.

so i ended up going with the W436 i think, used on EVo's
alot shorter. 25mm shorter. has been good so far.
also wrapped the filter in exhaust wrap and ground the dump pipe down a little bit to allow maybe 1-2 more mm clearance.

been cruising for the past 2 weeks, no dramas!

ill post up a pic soon

Glad you got it sorted tho..
Yes I am a bit concerned with how close my dump is located to the insulated remote oil lines (pictured).
I am going to enquire about getting my dump ceramic coated? For added heat protection...
Anyone know if it can be done to stainless (top section of my dump)?

That sheath of heat coating you have on the oil lines, is the slip on brown wrinkly rubber, with the material on the inside?
It looks like what i got from Pirtek. I used it on my new oil and water lines near the exhaust housing.
Its mean to be pretty good resisting heat, much better then any of the silver material stuff. Bloke at pirtek recons its used in some pretty serious applications.

Maybe keep on an eye on it first before you change it. Or find out what its rated to.

Doesn't look like you have room for a heat shield but if you do, sheets of acl race series heat shielding is about 55 bucks.

Yep its from Pirtek.
Unfortunately the orange "sheath" is just touching the dump on both lines.
I would keep this sheath on the oil lines as well as a ceramic coating as extra protection.
I will see how i go. Thanks mate.

I was at pirtek today and asked the bloke, he said its rated at 1100 degrees C!
But like he said that may be rated for only a sort period of time not every day.
Shame its touching. coating the dump will be the winner then i guess.

Its great to see you had such a gain from just the dump pipe!

the orange flame sheath is good but i have burnt it to a crisp before.

it still cant be too close to the exhaust housing, dump or manifold.

I think you should get a different relocation kit, with some 90 degree bends coming straight off it, or something like that, thats dangerously close.
Grant: yep, while you're relocating, might as well get a cooler as well.

A further modification to whats pictured could include removing the factory cooling "sandwich plate assembly" that bolts onto the block behind the "factor filter position" and then use an oil cooler. This would move the relocation block back a considerable distance from the dump pipe.

Nice ride, comments left. I will do this mod also :)

Do you use a bypass-thermostat system to your oil cooler or does the oil run through the cooler all the time?

The filter and cooler are all part of the system, so all of the time!:)

The whole system now takes 4.6-4.8L of oil instead of 3.8L with filter.
You can see that I have the good old cheap Z9:thumbsup:

Further mods to this/ my oil filter issue includes:
- removed the sandwich plate adaptor
- fitted an oil cooler
- ceramic coated the exhaust manifold and dump pipe

Now I have sufficient clearance away from the oil lines :)

You should do a write up in your members rides thread:thumbsup:

if you're putting a oil filter relocation kit & plumbed in an oil cooler aswell, do you know if the 93T oil pump will handle it? will oil pressure still be the same anyone know?

The factory oil pump will handle it fine.

Heres how I have done it:

BlockOutlet.jpg

First up, have removed the factory water fed oil cooler setup (which is rubbish) but retained the orange seal found on the block side of it. Have had the above piece machined up to take the seal and have a -10 outlet to go to the 4G63 filter block Dirk welded a bracket on for me to bolt in front of the passenger side wheel well.

Naturally this incorperates a factory oil thermostat which bypasses the oil cooler until it reaches temperature and opens flow to it.

The oil cooler is mounted betweent he radiator and the intercooler.
