remote oil filter install pointers.

ok so my remote oil filter kit arrived today. now i've sused out around the bay and found what i think is a good enough location for the fit but would like to run it by those more "in the know".

the location is in the the same place as the power steering resvoir (passenger side engine mount).

is there any problems using this spot. as the location is higher than stock and about level with the rocker cover.
my engine bay is extremely tight and the only other place it will fit is under the batery tray or behind the from bar with the removal of some of the plastic trim. under the batery tray poses the problem of exposing the oil hoses to the exhaust with not alot of room between the dump and the radiator im worried about rubbing and heat transfer/melting burning the hose (not braided will upgrade at a later time once funds alow)

obviously i'd be aiming for as little hose as posible with no dips or loops. would the elevated position be beter as oil from the filer hose can drain directly back into the sump.

the filter in this location would be mounted sideways as it is on the block so i suspect thise will pose no problem(except a mess at filter change)

any tips and pointers apriciated

If you don't have the space to safely put it why move it?
From the kits I've seen people put them most of the time it's in an area that will be heaps harder to clean if you spill it in a change.
Other then keeping the lines short my guess is on the firewall?

I put mine in a place thats piss easy to get to with minimum mess
I just pop an oil pan underneath it, put my hand up under the front bar and remove the oil filter and let it all drop in the pan.
If the filter is a bit hard to unscrew sometimes, I fully lock the front wheels to the right and it gives me much more space to put my hand in from the front passenger wheel.
I like the comfort of sitting down to do it rather than laying down or bending my back!! :lol:

the reason for the q was i wasn't sure. i had the same idea as rob in behind the bar i don't have quite as much room as him due to the way my intercool piping runs tho. that an i still have all my stock plastic wheel well sheilding in place. i wan't to move it because i have all of 2mm clearence between the filter and the dump and probaly all of 2 cm between it and the power steering/ac. making changing the filter an absolute prick.

as you cann see not alot of room.

there no room down low on the inside of the chasis rail(engine side) due to ac being on the front of the block. theres not alot of room to run hoses either so getting it to the fire wall isn't as easy as you'd think not to mention the strut bar in the way

it's alright man i got it in behind the bar cut away some of the plastic and ran the hoses forward.
