Anyone know how to remove the rear spare wheel carrier?

So it looks like this?

Did a fair bit of searching on this topic over the weekend. It seems like with mine the bolt to remove the arm has been snapped off in the thread. I am interested to hear from anyone else who has dealt with this.

It's easier to take off the whole bumper and remove the stub that way, that's what I have found anyway. There are 8 14mm bolts for the bumper from memory. I think there was a pin in mine but it was hard to tell, it was like an

archaeological dig by the time I had at it.

Once it's off the stub will be clear of the exhaust tip as well, then you can bath it in WD-40 and wrench on it while standing up. ;)

After not liking all the extra weight on the rear i have taken the whole support off and the swing arm totaling around 80kgs !
I'm using a nimbus rear bar and support and grafting on the bits from my original bar to make it match up
I will be looking at making a mold of this once done to make fiberglass copies of this on a group buy deal if enough people are interested  need to get some prices together....

Hi guys...

Just wanna share mine..chariot aka nimbus fitted with hsg rear bumper with spare tire bracket removed.
Most likely looks kinda weird to your rvr's guy..

And here is chariot nimbus rear bumper support bar.. a lil bit welding job to fit those support plates taken from the hsg support bar..

removes 80kg rear bar and adds 90kg box on the roof ^ !!
Those box itself just 18kg.. pretty useful for this mid size wagon...and my hsg engine is more than enough to drag this thingy.

Great idea, I never thought of doing it that way. Do the supports you welded in hold any weight or are they just to hold the bar up?
Mine just to hold the bumper up.. but still able to support if one person sit on it..
To make it stronger..u can add more 2inche square bar vertically in between those plate..no problem even if u stand up on the bumper.

loaded up was what my calculations / estimates were referring to...plus the drag it would create.

anyone else as curious as I am about those wing things at the bottom of the rear screen! wow, never seen that on an rvr.

Tali Kasut, does your car have a woodgrain trim interior? or a front lip on the spoiler?
