Tali Kasut, does your car have a woodgrain trim interior? or a front lip on the spoiler?
Its original rvr rear middle spoiler.. even here only few of us got it.. had to do some custom job to fit in chariot spacewagon tailgate..similar to the hsg front lip which is not oem mitsu..probably, its from accessories shop over there in japan. For interior, mine still black trim..

Not quite I wanted the shorter nimbus bar but i needed to retain the built in flares/ mudflaps the HSG bar has so it is a hybrid plastic welded up, the nimbus bar was close and only needed to add 2X nutserts on either side to mount it up i removed all of the bits for the RVR bar supports and mounts.

I will be looking at doing a mold and fiberglass bars IF i can get a few people interested I will supply them with alloy mounting brackets, just need to figure out the reversing lights (nimbus ones or aftermarket)
 
did you bolt the spare wheel up underneath the car body in a cradle like the nimbus or just drive without one #YOLO?
 
Did the carrier and support bar removal today and WOW I cant believe the weight that has come off the car. Unbelievable.

Yea mate, such a HUGE difference in the rear end, the car seems to come alive a bit more and the back gets a bit "squirrelly" now :D
 
Hi all just after opinions. I have removed spare wheel carrier/stub and also the rear bar support(which is where most of the weight seems to be). I have re mounted the rear bar and reinforced the mounting points and it seems quite sturdy. As long as no one stands on it, will it hold under the air pressure? I am seriously enjoying the lighter rear it has really improved the balance of the car, but I dont want it to fly off and collect a grandma walking to church.

At the moment i am not running one my plan is to get a spare wheel holder like on the back of a 4wd or trailer just the small part of the arm and then weld that to the underneath of the car ... might be a bit of a pain in the butt changing it if i have a flat but that has only ever happened once in 17 years of driving ...touch wood :)

I removed mine and was had the standard bar just running the screws for quite some time :) never came off :) but nimbus RVR hybrid is now on :)
 
I'm looking to take the rear bumper off and maybe fitting a tow bar (yes, yes, I know, sacrilige :eek:). Although my exhaust follows the same layout as stock, it may be in the way for tow bar fitment anyway.

So what comes off first? The spare wheel mounting bar - fixed in place by that screw? And where are the 8 bolts affixing the bumper? Looks like the usual Mitsubishi fun!

I was thinking of doing the same thing but when I measure the diameter of the wheel it doesn't look like there is enough room to fit it (well at least not the way I wanted to do it)
Bolt through the floor seems a bit ......well not right?

My Nissan work van has this set up - the bolt is right next to the rear door so can only be accessed when unlocked, but without the need to remove anything from inside. As you undo it, the wheel tray drops down. Wheel can't be easily nicked.

Yes that's the kind of thing I was thinking of doing
Had my eye on a space wagon tyre carrier to refit but I don't think there is enough space to fit it into the RVR
I'll keep thinking about it and do some more measuring

Driving without a spare is not an option out in the country, especially according to Murphy's law.
