Hey Guys,

Sorry if this has been answered - I tried searching but did not really know what the correct term was. The car is a 95 GSR

There is a black strip that sits between the roof line and the door line - it's the one that runs from the front of the roof line to the back. Is this easy to remove without being damaged (the car is being painted)?.

Also the strips at the top of the front and rear windscreen - they seem to be a fairly solid steel strip (it could be hardened plastic or something else) again I'd like to remove them prior to painting to get a clean finish. I did not want to try and remove them without a bit more advice.

Appreciate your help and advice.

thanks

Not too bad.
go back on easy as. If you havent broken the clips.
thr roof rails sort of presses down i bit, then towards the side then rolls out. Like k said^

The window ones just pull off. You may break a clip or 2. There should be a tool. You can use a scraper sort of....to pry it up, but you still break clips. All mitsi have same clips, i think most cars have same clip.
The molding at top of front is just rubber. It will pull out and go back in ok.

Yes..you need to pull and roll outways at the same time..likely to break a few as they are usually pretty brittle being 20 years old.
As Jack said all mitsis use the same clips. Not sure if you can buy the clips seperate but...I know with my old Legnum..you had to buy the whole strip and tbe clips come with it.
I do have few spare here somewhere if you need them.

I just had my windscreen replaced, they put the top of glass rubber on the glass then jam the glass up hard into the roof with the wedges at the bottom. But previously im pretty sure you can pullthem in and out. But this last guy pushed the glass up really hard, im not so sure. You can pick the rubber up on the roof edge and jam a length of speaker wire in there. Then you can mask the rubber seal and can get paint under the edge so no line.

i just got rails for my jumbuck, and i can confirm what jamo says- the clips come with the rails.
As a aside, got a new plenum cover (black plastic bit below windscreen, with clips (ex east, last one in aus) $100. Mine is greying and bit chewed up and missing clips. Bargain i think, same bit on gsr
