Hey guys,

can somebody please confirm whether or not i will have any troubles (ABS lights, strange idle, etc.) if i swap my Aus-spec VR4 ECU with a J-spec/Dual board one?

Cheers,
Mat :)

My abs works fine going from a dual board J spec to and A spec, I'm curious as to why it wouldn't it work going back the other way?

You will have to swap 2 wires around going to the ecu (pins 6 & 14).

its just so i can sell my a-spec ecu because im running a wolf but the stock ecu still controls some functions.

what about climate control, cruise control, etc.

dont sell it cos u will regret it when u get epa'd..

we put my a-spec ecu into dre's car last night and it seemed fine.

we put a mirage cyborg ecu into mine and the ABS lights were on.

thats odd
maybe the ecu from rockabillys car was fucked..?

what do those 2 pins control? (im too lazy to look at the pinout)

basically matts car still retails the stock ecu in order to control
1. fuel pump activation (provide 12v to pump) - can easily be changed to be powered by the wolf by rewing the pump at the rear with a relay and letting the wolf earth the pump instead...

2. idle control, mitsu's require 4 aux ports to control idle... only the wolf plus can do this, the wolf matt has has 2 aux ports, therefor no idle control with the mitsu stuff.. you can upgrade to the xf t/b and get rid of idle control or install a mach valve to control idle (same valves used to bleed boost)

other than that, u can get rid of your ecu...
i also believe that the stock ecu will be providing power to your coils / ignition / cas etc etc.... (it was most likely wired in as a piggy back)

so it would be best to get another ecu to just save you the hassel of rewiring everything...

A late model J spec (91+) has quite a few pin differences to the A spec and dual board J spec ecu. Wasn't Aldo's ecu from a late model RS?

Cyborgs dont have ABS, :D therefore thats probably why the ABS light came on.

Aldo's ECU was an A-spec, with a RS chip (510cc's)

My single board that was leant out to someone in the VR4 community has been returned in NON working order. I'm thinking the case and eprom was witched over with a fucked ECU and given back to me.

I'm pissed off

why dont u change the chip in the ecu to an eclipse chip jeff bazs mate can reprogram cheaps for a sweet price he as done it a few times to vr4 oz specs

whats the go with chucking in a facelift ecu to a prefacelift car

the pinouts seem to be very different on that spreadsheet

heres a spreadsheet Galant1(Scott) from ClubVR4 and myself put together.

Im pretty sure its pretty close as we used the factory ECU wiring diagrams.
