i think it may be a hassel to switch to the ce9a control arms. everything up front is different because of the changes mades to the control arms. the Struts are longer so u'll probably need those plus tracking down the new sway bar and links.

+1 if all your looking to do is update the ball joints or keep the existing suspension on the 1 then changing to ce9a arms are a total waste, hassle and will be require a whole lot of parts.

Myself though, I was looking to change out the entire suspension with some new cuscos so I wanted to also benefit from the anti-roll bar the 2-3 has and forged cast lower arm. Thank you for the link again mate, now I can begin to assemble the parts for a evo 2-3 suspension swap.

the evo 2-3 suspension swap may be a worth while upgrade. if u could update us with the all the required parts to do the swap that would be awesome. I may do this change my self!

heres the list of parts you will require mate:

1. Front suspension with holes for the end links (any evo 2-3 suspension aftermarket/OEM has them)
2. Lower control arms from the evo 2-3 (they are forged cast)
3. End links for the anti-roll bars (you can probably get these from the dealer)
4. Bushings for the anti-roll bars (most likely you will want to go with aftermarket polyurethane most likely sourced out from the UK)
5. Anti-roll bar from the evo 2-3

when I get them all assembled I'll post the links for them, but for the moment I got two from you for the lower control arms which is like half the battle!

I got a set of MOOG ball joints comming in this friday for the evo 1 arms. I will let you know how it goes.. it sounds really promising *** fingers crossed they will press and fit into the arm until I can get all the parts in order for the evo 2-3 swap.

If not I have the mirage arms in the garage to temporarily use.

awesome thanks. we are waiting to hear from u about the moog balljoint swap. If it works I know ppl in winnipeg

Just got an update from the website RHDJAPAN.com they can supply OEM Evo1 control arms for 270 an arm.

thats awesome. do you have a link?

so heres my update, I went to several part stores to look into several ball joints and a friend also supplied me with a set of 1g talon/eclipse ball joints as well.

My findings are that they do not look anything like each other, neither could I locate or find anything that looked similar. The base where the stock ball joint seats has a gap for the ball joint to press into the arm.... where as the talon does not and has like a larger fins that flare that area... its very possible with the 1g ball joint it will possbily enlargen the ball joint hole to which I'm not interested in finding out and ruining the arm.

so im left with either using new evo 2-3 arms with full evo 2-3 suspension or mirage arms. having said that I have not yet located all my parts for a evo 2-3 suspension conversion I will have to make due now.

so for the time being while waiting on my parts to arrive I think what I will do instead is remove the ball joint from the mirage arm and install it into the evo arm. that way I can keep the orginal design as its superior yet similar.

my only concern is if its alright to remove the new ball joint from the new mirage arm to replace it into the old arm, lets not forget the mirage arm and evo arm is simlar only the evo arm is more strengthened and the rear bushing on the mirage arm is suctioned on where as the evo the rear bushing is with a bushing held by the hex nut. what do you guys think? will this be ok?
