My mrs car was purchased as a half finished project and so we finished it off after probably being off the road for nearly 3 years in total (previous owner and us). We just got it registered and passed everytihng including brake test but I wasnt too happy with the stock CC sedan brakes so today I fitted some GSR calipers and slotted DBA rotors with green stuff pads  . Anyhow, after bleeding the brakes I took it down the street and back testing them and they were fine and to finish it off I did a heavy 60-0 kmh stop then 'pop!'. One of the front hoses burst. I used the handbrake to slow down and drove back into the driveway, jacked it up, and said '***!'. Where the rubber hose connects to the solid line the 10mm nut has been rounded off  They are always a c*nt of a job to do so I sprayed it with WD40, waited a couple of minutes and thought I'd give it a go with some multi-grips but cant get a decent grip. What do you guys use in this case? I have 3 spare lines in the garage but cant get the darn existing one off

Thanks Richard, yeah I broke my vice grips earlier in the year when doing the bathroom renovations and havent replaced them yet  Anyhow, the Mrs couldnt wait til I get home at 6pm so her dad came around and drove the car to the brother in laws' workshop to get done. He's lucky I adjusted the handbrake yesterday - 2 clicks and she's locked

Yep all fixed now thanks. Replaced both brake lines just in case  This a reminder for you guys to check yours now - look for minor cuts from the springs, wear, abrasions or even baloons :D

does the geezer use a larger id hose at all...

reason i ask is that in my time i have burst two brake lines.. both the upper hose from memory since goiing gsr spec up front...

time for some braided lines if they go again...

Nope from the Mivec front cut and GSR brake lines I've got they look to be exactly the same hoses and diameter as normal GLXi brake lines but I suppose only part number checks would confirm for sure.

Hey Tim, GSRSOL & I bought a full set of Goodridge EVO 3 braided brake lines back in October last year from the UK. As far as I know they're the only brand internationally recognised and approved for street use because they basically set the benchmark and quality standards  . You'll find them as standard fitment on a lot of exotic cars and motorbikes 8) I checked with the engineer and he said only Goodridge braided lines are approved for street use under ADR7 as long as they retain the 'Goodridge' brand and 'FMVSS-106 or ADR' certification tags on them as proof (plus I kept the packet  )
