Looking at buying some second hand Eagle h-beams for the build.

Without using precision measuring equipment, is there a way I can inspect these to be sure they are fit for purpose?

Obvious one is big end/piston pin surfaces. However I have heard of these rods stretching/twisting. How can I test them for this? Anything else obvious to look for?

Cheers
Alex

What did the seller say his reasons for selling them were? And what power was he putting through them? Might give ya an idea of the life they had

He reckons they were in his built motor pushing big numbers with 'no issues' then 'upgraded to other Rods in line with other upgrades'. That's the part that got me suspicious - why would you go through the trouble/cost of changing rods if not required.

if ya can trust him go for it, but big power and used... how hard are you planning on pushing them,
ya gotta think how you'd feel driving ya car, can you give it a hard boosting and be confident the rods wont be the weak link,
Exact reason I went I beams was for peace of mind,

Did the old block chop disappearing act.

Exactly my sentiments George and Cranked.
Used rods without any magnafluxing or inspection by a professional is just too big a risk if they let go.
Its not worth destroying a block, pistons, head, valves, crank etc just to save a few bux in the lower end of the market to begin with.
Buy new Eagles.

Don't cheap out Alex - you've come this far with the car, you can't really justify going 2nd hand rods in your engine build to save a few $$$. There are some things you can skimp on - and there's others you just don't.
