Semi-Slicks

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

Run the Pirelli's, they arnt a semi and wont be ratshit after 10 heat cycles.

As for research, im only going off what ive picked up from being at race meets and talking for many beers to my tyre supplier  You would have seen him on TV in the Targa Tasmania

Did this get anywhere ?

I REALLY need a set of new road tires
From what i can see (Price wise)
A decent High Performace 17" tire will cost me around the $300 mark, i can also get the Falken RT215 (Almost semi) for $295, maybe i just get a set of these for both street and track use :?

Other option is a ~$200 17" (street tire) + semi 15" (Track tire)

hmm

my Falken RT615 R compounds are just about out of puff. Hoping to finish the season but I'm definately in the market for a set if this kicks on

Sorry Lorrie. I have to disagree with you on this one as I have learned first hand what happens when slicks aren't warmed up and you try to take a corner too fast.

hmm ~$320 each - How many KM approx did you get out of them ?
i can get the RT215 for ~$295 each (first place iv been) Considering these for daily driving/track

In my opinion no. At the end of the season I'll take them off and put on some rubbish for around town.

gees you guys must be crazy or dumb for driving around with semi's on the road. is there really a need for it ?

LOL i currently have a set of Dunlop Formula R's DJ01 i think they are. Im driving around on them every day and when they are cold Charlie is right.. they just spin out.. doesnt take too long to warm them up, once they are warm it just sticks to the road.

Joeness, get yourself a set of semi comps and you will notice the difference especially the way you turn into a corner etc..

My semi comps i bought second hand for $160 a set, they had 3mm or so left on them, so its not bad. Next set of tyres id probably opt for the RE55's havent heard anything but good things about the tyres.. very highly recommended within the group of track racers.

At the drag strip you cant notice any difference because you dont have enough time to warm them up,. even if you do a burn out.. only burnout that will warm them up is a static one and ill b suprised if i ever see an AWD do that.

ive drove on semi's before but not my own car (DC2 next best handling from a evo il say) and the grip is awesome ! more heaps, but the sad thing is that dont last that long and its pretty noisy.
