Can anyone tell me what the sensor is which sits on the oil filter mount? On a 4G63 1g galant VR4 engine...

It screws in facing the bottom/front with a 17mm size bolt/head
(not the smaller brass one on the top)

It has three wires coming out of it which are white red and black...

There are some numbers printed on it
DF0007001 and 2104549

What is it and do i need it? As i busted it putting the engine in...

I can post pictures if neccessary but i'll have to go home and download them off my camera as i only have my laptop here...

Cheers Jez

That'll be the oil pressure switch - When oil pressure is low it will switch on a light in most cars cluster to tell you that oil is low (idiot proof) You dont need it working as long as you know your car has oil in it or is running a separate oil pressure gauge to let you know you have oil pressure which is what you should be running on your turbo car - oil is your friend so make sure you have it  .

Thanks

Cheers man - obviously I will replace it - just wanted to know as I am trying to do a first start after conversion and wanted to know if its going to stop the ecu from letting me crank or something like that...

Just a quick note, if it's broken/faulty the ECU will keep the low oil light on on your dash.

So if you don't want to see the light you need it.

(I broke mine and this is what it did :/)
