set up a pod for rvr turbo

i tried a few times b4 when i tried to set up a poddy for my rvr but my boost keeps cutting off on me....
what have u guys done to your rvr any pod modifications
 
Sounds like you could be hitting boost cut, if you have the boost wound up a bit from stock, then maybe the pod is giving you just that bit extra air, enough to trigger it.

Describe more what it feels like?
If it is a dead cut in power and almost throws you head through the wind screen it it most likely boost cut.
When the ecu see a certain amount of air flow that is deemed too much (pre programed) it will cut. There's not a set boost level it triggers at as its based on air flow past the afm, but on vr4's it seems to happen around 12-15psi. Since rvr's run 450cc injectors to it could be around the same area.
Its there to protect the motor so you don't exceed what the fuel system can deliver. And run lean.

I don't know much about if you can chip rvr ecus, but with vr4s you can get around it with a chip (or ecm link ect) to remove the boost cut, but if you do this you wan tot upgrade you fuel system to go with the increased flow.

Your not playing around with the afm at all when you put the pod on there?

The boost cut in RVR is around 15psi to even 18psi in stock form. As you said depending on airflow.
Also, RVRs can be chiped same as VR4.

Not the intake pipe to the turbo, but from the snorkel into the intake box before the filter.
The one that is the more unobvious restrictor

Meanwhile, that looks nice, but I'm keeping my engine bay looking as stock as possible.

That has been done too but the real restriction is the stock rubber to turbo.

You must have the boost turned up with a tap and/or an exhaust for it to be boost cutting. Unless you haven't attached it properly, and maybe it's pulling more air in than the AFM is reading, which would be leaning out your mixture and putting more load on your engine = boost cut.

Speak to VR401, he'll write you a drop-in chip and solder a socket to your ECU for you so he can tune it ;).

Another vote for vr401, he did my Sports Gear, and is doing my HSG this week. :)

Send it over mate. Last night I played with stock HSG auto that runs 3" exhaust and 264/272 cams only. Big difference in mid range power/torque. You'll love it :)
 
Here is my airflow reading with that intake setup. As you can see the airflow kept going up all the way to 7000rpm.

woah thanks for that guys... im still quite newb with this... so i need a tune to run a pod aswell and upgrade ...

but i remember that me and my mate test drive with out no airbox or any filter i had no boost cut at all and it was quick... knowing that alot of air has gone through the afm but then with a pod it cuts off... how can it be so different to the stock airbox and by the way i sprayed my rocker cover red and black...

What boost are you running and what upgrades you have on your car. Running without filter and with pod on it shouldn't make a difference not to boost cut unless it has been done in two different days with air temp. different.
Look at it this way, no matter what filter setup you have, once the ECU reads more airflow (which is usually translated in g per sec) then it's set in stock tune, it will cause the boost cut.
There is only a few solutions to get around it and that is:
Get custom written chip with boost cut disabled.
Get something like SAFC. You can use it to lean the Air/fuel mix. with stock injectors or even use it with bigger injectors so you compensate for them and that way the airflow reading becomes less once ECU reads it ( the only downfall is if you use a lot bigger injectors then you compensating too much and the ECU uses higher timing values from maps because it calculates a lot less air in then it really is.)

hrmm if u were me which one would you pick... sounds like getting a custom chip sounds so much easier.... to fun the pod filter

also my cars stock i think runs about 6or7 psi im might get a manual boost controller to boost it up

There no chance in the world for it to boost cut at that boost. Something else is wrong. Maybe your leads or spark plgs are failing under load or your ECU caps are leaking?
