it is well worth replacing the plastic sleeves that sit on the shafts too (and the one on the clutch pedal).
i did mine on the weekend and the notchy shifting is completely gone.

i was thinking of replacing all my bushes and want to know where to get sleeves for shafts and clutch pedal or did you go genuine?

yeah phi, and maybe ken too if he get evo1 today.
Don't know which 1 to choose. Any recommendations? Mines ecu is a good investment. Rev to 8k. Cain's sti is pretty animal.

Coming from another angle, I put in a short shifter and the movement was terrible, so much slop with the shifter, in gear felt like neutral, I also kept selecting 4th when trying to get 2nd on downshift. I noticed that the 'tear drop' shape on the bottom of the gear lever was not an exact copy of the stock one so the little plastic cup was not being held in proeprly. I ended up getting the std shifters bottom welded onto the short shifter. This fixed everything, shifter now feels tight, no problems.

Just be aware if you have got a cheap shifter.
