hi guys, just put my short shifter in along with some newer shifter cables and i am having a problem with them, when i move the shifter left to right it is fine, but when i push the shifter forwards it runs out of shift cable before it hits the stopper, have i done anything wrong or is this how they are meant to be, the shifter i got is the one from baz if that makes a difference. i don't know if it will affect the shifting because the motor isn't in the car at the moment, all help appreciated

short shifter

Gday,
I bought a short shifter from baz a while ago too.
It's in my GGSR.
Mine does the same thing, and recently my gearbox decided it didn't want to go into 1st or 2nd gear.
I'm pretty sure close attention has to be taken to the position of stoppers and extension of shifter arms etc before using short shifter.

you shouldn't be running out of shifter cable...

the cables are adjustable
have you adjusted them to suit?

is yours also an aus spec? or facelift model?

Craig, there's no point worrying about anything until the box is in the car and the cables are attached to it as only then can you check the throw and adjust it all accordingly. The stops are easy to modify if needed. Just don't put your centre console back in until its all sorted.

its an aspec i have adjusted it to its full length and still runs out of cable before it hits the stops, i am gonna wait until the box is in, but i thought it was kinda odd, usually it would hit the stops right?

Well the other thing, like Tim said, is to compare the cables to make sure theyr are the correct ones and that they are the right way around.
