I was driving along at 80 overtaking some boagn sitting in the right hand lane when all of a sudden the VNish commodore takes off.

I chuckled and slammed it back to 3rd and started to catch up slammed 4th and there was this weird lull in acceleration for a second then it kinda lurched foreward. I would have expected a clunck or sumthing but i don't think it did.

What does it feel like when the clutch slips?
What is most likely to have slack in the drivetrain?

The weirdest thing is i then pulled up at the lights and annhilated the fool without the slack.

hmm

timing being pulled?
getting knock ???

are you feeling the lurch forward or is something else lurching forward?

no its not like waiting for power to kick in engine, its definately drivetrain.
This should answer the turbo lag question.

I just had a "new" right angled drive put in as well so i shouldn't have any slack in there....

how old is the clutch how do u drive it, was it a jolt or just a gentle lack of power and then build up

possibly fuel cut/boost cut

it was a serious jolt, like sumthing decided to engage 1 sec is a long time. I am kinda unforgiving. Although i only take it to 6k now that i took the hose of the bsc solenoid. But i dont treat my clutch kindly...

fuel or boost cut in a vr4 will make the cut suddenly lose power which almsot throws you into the steeringwheel/windscreen. So I doubt this.

Best bet is a rooted clutch.

in my experiences of fuel cut in my vr4, there is a serious jolt and lack of power for about 1 sec, and then its all fine again
