Something most of you probably know, but this initially caught me out on Saturday when I was installing my new rear control arms...
When undoing the sway bar links I could not for the life of me figure out how to stop the threaded portion turning when I kept trying to undo the nut. After much stuffing around with a pair of needle nose pliers I got the RHS link off the arm, then turned my attention to the LHS. Upon closer inspection I saw that there was a hex-key recess at the top of the thread which had been caked up with mud and crud :fuuuuu:
So once I cleared that recess out and put a hex-key in there to stop the thread turning, it was a piece of piss!! Made doing the sway bar links up after swapping in the new arms much much easier.
Oh, as a side note - when I took the Coupe in to get a wheel alignment done, we found that ALL the camber bolts had stripped threads. From talking to the Beaurepairs guy, apparently this happens in older cars over time and is just wear and tear. Might be something to monitor guys so you don't get caught out like I did.
So I have to postpone the wheel alignment until I can get new camber bolts and nuts. What a pain in the arse. :fuuuuu::fuuuuu:
