Hey All,

Just found out that the space saver wheel as my spare is not the correct size.
I've been carrying this spare for the past 9 years.

My standard wheel tyre size is 195/65 x 15, which gives a circumference of 1993.34mm

My incorrect spare is 135/70 x 16 with a circumference of 1870.50mm

Could you please advice other mitsi model car that came with space saver wheel so I can check.

Cheers

My tyre placard say 195/65 x 15.
I am still using teh factory wheel.

Do Magna and FTO uses space saver tyre ?

S14 200sx uses a 135/90/15 = 1960.3 mm

Thats my spare wheel to match my 215/45/17 = 1964.4 mm

Here is another Tyre calculator that goes to 115, also has a diagram to show the differences in the sizes

Where did you get that one from Mik? I'lll get one too :)
The overall diamaeter is nearly the same but over one full rotation of the wheel is only 4mm difference

FTO's do- my TJ/KJ magna/verada wagon has a full sized spare. I think some of the older models have them though.

I have asked the guy selling the FTO space save on trademe what the size is- i'll post it up when I get a reply :)

In all honesty though, I wouldnt worry about a 5% too small tyre on your car for a short period of time....

FTO and Magna are 5 stud though Dre?
Manny's is 4x114.3.

No.

Mine is 5 studs.
114.3 x 5

But even a 4 stud will do, I'll just take the tyre. As long as it very close to circumference.

When I put on the spare, the gearbox was going to blow up (very noisy) at drive way speed, less than 10kph

hmm all the space saves i have seen are usually quite small compared to the standard. hence most probably why they have the sticker saying 80kph. my car included the spare saver is very small.

Manny you're right. I wasnt sure what year model yours was til I just checked and yours is the facelift model (RVR looking front end). They went up to 5x114.3 in the mid 90's eh. Ive got the 1992-1994 114.3 non facelift model. Yeah man, get a spare a closely matched as possible to the rest of the wheels overall diameter. Hopefully yo havent done any damage to your gearbox.
