SS manifolds - where to get from?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

greatly appreciated guys!

I've contact 6boost, 1 week turnover which is good
your mates one looks great also!!
good price too
how long does he take?

I've seen too many SS manifolds crack also...
on 4g63's anyway, maybe its the way they drive

the others on sr20's etc are fine.. for years and years!
cheap too! 200 bux!

I'll keep you guys updated on my decision..

now, know anybody with a .82 exhaust housing for sale?

i think its because of the engine layout and the bracing

because of the shitty accessability, most people dont use the brackets on the 4g63s to support the manifold

also
i think a lot more r&d has gone into the sr20 manifolds just because of the greater demand for it

Yeah, people have got to learn to brace the manifold and/or the dump coming off the back of the turbine otherwise you WILL see manifold failure or break manifold studs on the head. Even a little form of bracing to assist the manifold in carrying the weight, movement and vibration of the exhaust is better than nothing... :)

6Boost already has a jig set up and because he does manifolds Mon-Fri as his primary source of income that's why he can do it in one week :) He's done a couple of different designs for Rob, the ones pictured above producing the better results so he knows what kind of design and runner length works better. I was just about to buy one but my friend Mikey gave me a better offer  Mikey doesnt do that as his normal job and has to find time during work hours and after work to make one up. He made the jig on my setup and about 2-3 weeks later the manifold was completed. He's waiting to see how mine performs before further promoting his work :)

gone the 6boost route guys!

thanks for the opinions once again..

good bloke.
will have it in a week or so

hopefully i can get the car back on the road soon!

i saw my first FULL RACE manifold yesterday night!

fark they are nice!

the bullhorn look is very very sexy...

too bad it was for a b16... lol

If anybody is after the fullrace, we can get them in cheaper that what they sell for online...

as for my 6boost manifold, i'm still patiently waiting.... kyle had it sent to the ceramic coaters and hopefully i'll be gettng it soon...

 You obviously havent read this thread entirely have ya dude :p XS Power manifolds are the worst offender

Better put on my specticles and take a read, esp seeing as i have one of those manifolds!

although has anyone seen someone use the heat n dip thingo. Use to be a boilermaker and we made a few manifolds, we use to heat them up till they were glowing and dip them in a 12gallon drum of oil. Wheater it works or not i dont know but never cracked

thats like that movie

WORLDS FASTEST INDIAN

the guy makes his pistons, then dips it in water while hot!
a form of heat treament

any news yet or pics of the new manifold?

as im looking into getting one for the stock turbo

well just to give my experience. i bought those ss autochrome mannies, (the disaster mannie lol) (it was cheap off ebay lol)

well i modified mine, changing the flange to a mitsu flange and moved the external gate pipe to the other side.

the pipes where stainless thined walled, but the original flanges on the manny where mild steel, zink coated.

I had my mate replace the flange to bolt on my tdo6 20g turbo (previous setup when i hit 10.9) and it was competition coated black back in early 2005.

it did not crack.. did not give me one problem...

the only reason why they crack cos stainless steel when heated expands, but the molecules in the metal do not go back to their original position, where as mild steel does.

thats when cracks occurs, the to metals are different. thats all. if ss autochrome uses ss flanges, it would have been ok.

both my old ss autochrome manny and the new one, do not have brackets from the turbo to the manny and from the manny to the head of the engine.

it only cracks due to wrong use of material and poor design.
