hey, im chasing down info on what colour wire does what for the stereo in a lancer cc gsr

eg, speakers, power, ground etc.

Help please!

There is only one wire that I would really be using to wire up an aftermarket sterio and that is the Acc +ve, I think it is the thickest wire in the harness and from memory is a blue wire. You should run your own ground/earth wire, also the main power/memory wire should go straight to the battery ( With a fuse in the line), If you are using the standard speakers the wires shouldnt change colour, otherwise if putting in better speakers run your own wires. depends on what your aim is how you do it all.

do you know how to use a circuit tester?

that's the easiest way to work out what does what.

ground wires are usually black, so hook up one end of the circuit tester to that....

one of the wires should make the circuit tester light up when the car is off... that is the power wire from the battery.

when you turn the car on, the other power wire should light up, that is the accessories wire.

you need a multi-meter man, dont bother without one :)

from memory..

yellow = 12V constant
red = 12V ACC
black = GND
blue/white stripe = external amp control power lead/remote

blue = antenna control lead (dont need unless ur antenna slides in/out)
? = 12V Illumination (dont need/use for my headunit)
orange = external mute lead (dont need/use for my headunit)

Speakers

white (+)/white-black stripe (-) = front left speaker
gray (+)/gray-black stripe (-) = right front speaker

green (+)/green-black stripe (-) = rear left speaker
violet (+)/violet-black stripe (-) = rear right speaker

I think he is after the wiring for the car, as was posted by "abyz" these are a fairly standard wire colours for the aftermarket sterio but you should have instructions unless you bought it s/hand. Also I would always run your own earth as a mate of mine "thought" he had found earth in the harness but was the illumination wire or somthing and was earthing thru the globes, blowing fuses and all kinds of weird shit. A good earth is important.
