When does the turb come on boost, sometimes bigger is not always better dre, youve got all top notch stuff dont get me wrong, but then ive never heard of an engine being at its limit, my car pumped out a 131 kw@ 4 wheels b4 i took her off the road and that was with a leaking cooler, 10 psi, damaged rings and everything else stock ( besides dipstik shooting out at 4700rpm when run was ceased). 186 is what the stock STI's pump out on average.

Maybe theres a pressure drop in cooler, or igition not sparking enough for amount off fuel. Ignition is only thing you have touched yet if i remember correctly.


If possible post the pic of the dyno run so we can see the power curve that will give us a lil more info.

That is VERY wrong. Stock STI's are around the 135-145awkw mark.

I personally think you need to go tuner hunting again CluTZ if there's no blockages in the exhaust, you've pressurized the intake too i'm assuming?
Try dropping hte exhasut off the front pipe before the cat and give it a run then and see what it pulls.

Just to give you an idea, a awd converted CC Coupe here in Newcastle made just under 260awkw from a stock VR4 motor with GT35R etc....
Motor is still going strong 12 months later, and this thing is SCARY fast!

i really need a tuner in the city! i hate driving for an hour just to see someone, the closest 4wd dyno to me is STI docklands! lol
 
intake leak, nah it wouldn't run like crap
it depends how big..
small ones can fuck you over..

my mate had a leak where his brake booster hose was and a tiny boost gauge leak..

very hard to find, very easy to fix..

you're making your turbo work harder than it should
 
anything except the power that is, they can do some funky things to tuning at times as well, generally leaks near the head for this though.
 
Have you been to Daren at Evo Auto? He obviously does alot of tuning for 4G63s so I would suggest him as he would know what a VR4 can produce. That said, I have never been to him for any serious work, I've only heard of and seen his work on other peoples cars, also I think he can be a bit pricey.

hey dre, u ever considered cams??.. could it be possible that the cams are resticting that big momma turbo of yours??

most big power cars have cams at least!!..
i know adrian did when he made the 250kw

These motors regularly make over 200awkw without being opened!
 
i know thats what ppl say..
but i dunno..

i didn't make much with my 23g turbo
now dre
even arthur
and chaverz

all with no cams..

i honestly think its cams..
its not letting the engine breath enough
 
bit of a late reply.............

Dunno if youve already tried it, and im not sure what their level of mitsubishi tuning experience is like, but I do know that Beninca Motors in Surrey Hills is a registered Autronic dealer and im pretty sure they also have a 4WD dyno too.

That is where i was going to get an SM2 or SM4 put in and tuned when I get the money..........
