as above, im experiencing some wierd suspension/handling behaviour.

I have a CB 3dr, with brand new KYB excel G shocks, and lovells springs.

Basically, the car doesnt feel laterally stable, like it wobbles around and feels all loose. Also, when coming out of a corner, there is next to no auto-correct from the steering wheel, which i find very weird, as my old one (that GSR70Y has now) never used to behave like this.

sugestions?

for the self centring effect and better cornering you need CASTOR and as much as you can get.

castor gives you camber when turning

maybe sway bars to stop the sloppyness

But my old one was nowhere near as sloppy as this one is, and it didnt have swaybars either....

it has to be something else... :?

any other suggestions ?

have you had a wheel alignment dan?

Yes, after we had changed the engine and gearbox over in NSW, me and Dave went and got one done. n00bs!

I just got back from donnellans now, and had another one done, and the front wheel toe was out out by about 13mm

feels much better now, but the guy at donnellans also said the tires were shot from the poor previous settings, and as such would be contributing to the problem...

the car will have some OZ chronos and new tires on it soon so that should fix things right up :)

i just did another set of bushes for a guy with a 3 door gsr. did the front lower control arm bushes, and for the rear of the front arms we use double offset castor bushes, and its excellent. not easy things to do mind you as they need to be pressed in and out, but well worth it also.

what was the cost involved? and did you use genuine mitsu bushes or aftermarket ones?

just a shot in the dark here but are u running a wider wheel/tyre set up?

no, stockies, but there will be bugger wheels on there soon.

as it is now the car handles great, like a 500% improvement on how it was,..,..

yer ive seen a few cars that have handled poorly due too massive amounts of toe in or toe out for a stock cb lancer gsr toe should be set at 0 soo now toe in or out as per most fwd and awd becuase that dont have bump steer but commercial 4wd and rwd cars have bump steer soo you set toe according too bump steer but like track cars u have too set up according too track and as said before as much positive castor is great but also have more positve castor and negative camber on the lh if its a street car but for track u have too set both up too accomodate for the corners on the track

sorry guys, this forum doesnt auto reply email to me so i miss alot!!
anyway, the bushes are around the 80 mark for a set last i got them(the rear of the front control arm ones) the offset ones i am talking about. the front ones are about 40bucks. both nolathane and superpro make them, the rear ones are the same as evo 1 2 and 3.

i found shot rear panhard rod bushes made mine really floaty and crappy handling.

you need to find a wheel aligner you trust alot of places cant help but adjust things whether they need to be or not!!

Not all places know as much as they think they do!!

yer as said the front control arm rear bush you can get 3 versions too it one is standard other lh offset and the other version is lh and rh offset too set into specs cos it can be a possibility that castor is out of specs on both sides soo thats a good design as for the rear panhard rod bush if its flogged out it should feel floaty and crabby cos the arse end of your cars floating cos if u watch v8 supercars if u see 1 snap a watts link arse end moves side too side its not the same design as a panhard rod cos panhard rod is a single rod but watts link is 2 rods too allow for more suspension articulation
for finding a proper wheel alligner u have too find 1 who nows wats each suspension compenent does and how each angle contributes too cornering and driving straight i work for kmart tyre and auto in ipswich as a second year apprentice i dont now everything but ive done alot of wheel allignments and learnt alot about each angle and wat can help make a car drive straight and wear tyre evenly

Yes as I said, you can get 3 versions of the front control arm rear bush too. One is standard, another is L/H offset, and the other version is L/H and R/H offset to set into specs because it can be a possibility that castor is out of line on both sides.

The rear panhard rod bush is a good design. If its flogged out it should feel floaty and crabby which will make the arse end of your car float. If u watch V8 supercars if u see a car snap a watts link, and the arse end moves side too side its not the same design as a panhard rod- a panhard rod is a single rod but watts link is 2 rods too allow for more suspension articulation.

Finding a proper wheel alligner u have to find one who knows what each suspension compenent does and how each angle contributes to cornering and driving straight. I work for K.Mart tyre and auto in Ipswich as a second year apprentice- I don't know everything but ive done alot of wheel allignments and learnt alot about each angle and wat can help make a car drive straight, and wear tyres evenly.

Better Rob?

i had a look at the part numbers for the control arm bushes for cb gsr and cyborg mirages it is correct that the control arm bushes are the same from cc gsr and evo 1 through too evo 6
