T4G Geeks, Win 7?

4GTuner

Help Support 4GTuner:

w7 ftw! shits all over vista. i'm on an ol' skool athlon 1.5ghz w/ 1gb ram, and it runs quicker than xp with service packs.
only gripe is lack of support for older graphics cards.. i get bluescreened if i youtube at fullscreen, but thats probably just something i'm too lazy to fix with a proper driver.

I just installed win7 pro oem on this pc, seems ok. Not happy about them taking away the "classic start menu", the new one is shit, but I guess there's 3rd party programs, but still.

Secondly, file sharing on a home network seems difficult, maybe I haven't set it up correctly. When you take off file sharing from a folder, it then has this silly padlock which is annoying.

Thirdly, I'm not sure I like Windows Explorer Pin thing on the taskbar. If you have multiple windows open, you have to highlight that icon, and it will show you all the windows you have open, I'd just prefer each window open went along the taskbar individually. Not sure how to do that though. :S

Only played with this since v.late last night, and winzip 10 is being gay and wont let me close & remove quick pick (cant select the option).

Can make the start bar look like XP or vista easily enough, but why would you? you'll get used to the new style and learn how much easier it is :)

Turn off windows homegroup if you don't like the padlocks...and setup sharing manually. Sharing to my PS3 took all of 30seconds to setup with 7, had to use 3rd party software with vista and it still dropped out every 15minutes or so.

I beleive that you can unpin explorer also, but i've not needed to so don't know how lol

As said winrar>winzip

"Like all Microsoft products, wait for Service Pack 1"

This is a knee jerk reaction that all old school IT Guys are going to start echoing. Can't blame them at all, as I very much felt the same way until I started testing Win 7 and went to some Microsoft workshops on it.

Windows 7 is built on the Vista kernel, so it's not like it's a brand new kernel or anything, as Vista was when it first came out, which was what caused so many headaches.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Microsoft fanboy. In fact I'm anti Microsoft because I have to deal with them all day every day in my job as an IT Sys Admin.

But having said that, I've been using Win 7 for months now with no stability issues.

wait for SP1...wait for serries 2...

always seams to be peoples claims when a new product comes out...be it software, cars, phones...
