Hi guys,

I have just had my VR4 tailshaft rebuilt with all new parts including a balance and repaint. I thought the total price was fairly reasonable so I thought I would pass on the details of where, how much and what bits to get for anyone who may need to do the same in the future.

Driveline Services, Bayswater 03 9761 6663. Centre bearings X2 Part# cb125 $302.50 Delivered from QLD ( Arrived in 2 days )
Statewide Bearings, Dandenong South, 84 Greens Rd 03 8710 9777. Uni joints x3 - RUJ 1783 $62.00 all up
G J Drivelines 2/189 Cheltenham Rd, Keysborough, 03 97063166. Tailshaft overhaul, Balance and repaint $220

Grand total of $584.50

Nice work!

I used G J Drivelines also.
Good service, good price.

I just don't recommend aftermarket uni joints anymore since I snapped mine when launching. Only genuine now.

Yeah the only reason for the cheapy unis was the factory mitsi price was $180 each?! I purchased the 272 cams off phaser and have rectified the knocking issue this thing had when it was in the shop Baz. So will keep everyone posted how these poo cheap uni's hold up! :D

So i di mine on Saturday with my mate @ Pedders.
Took a few hrs, but no issues. it all went to plan, came out easy, reassembled not probs & back in.
It's MUCH better than it was! although if Im picky, it has a very slight vibration at hwy speed. If it gets worse quickly I will whip it back out for a proper balance.

However, I have developed a considerable oil leak from the transfer case!
we topped up the g/box & transfer fluid which has made shifting much nicer.
But it has started dripping all day sunday & today at work still. It is not coming from the yoke seal either.
It seems as though it's coming from a hole in the underside of the case. It doesnt look like a damage type hole though
Im hoping I just really overfilled it and it's pouring out; but I cant help but feel it's worse than that!
Car goes and sounds fine though........ any ideas?

That's shithouse. Wouldn't have clue why its doing that. Anyone? I too have a slight vibration but more of just a slight noise up around 110ish. I turn the stereo up and it fixes itself;)

Yeah Im spewing really. Like I said, we never touched the transfer case (other than popping the driveshaft back in gently.)
It's still losing fluid, but less now, maybe as the level is lower again. Maybe it never leaked before becuase the fluid level was so low?
Who knows; I am going to get under there with a video borescope from work tonight hopefully for a closer look! <_<
