Hey guy's ... forgive the noobness. But as a new customer in the vehicle industry (18) im not entirley sure what to do about the current situation; My 93 GSR makes tapper noise when cold and at random interval's of times. I was reading somewhere else in this forum that this sort of problem is common with this car. I've done a little homework and i've found that adding an oil additive to thicken oil should help... but im pretty sure thats not good for the turbo. =(

Does anyone know any information about this problem Or the solution ? Thx

A thickening agent will actually make the noise worse, not to mention stuff other things in your engine as well.

What you need is a good oil with a upper cylinder head lubricant additive like ClutZ on this forum is selling.

new lifters isnt really neccessary.

Yer didnt put any crap in my oil just yet ( phew ) but yer that additive u suggested sounds good ill buy some as soon as im not poor anymore. Buying a car whilst doing my first year of university may not of been the smartest thing to do =P.

easy fix... but common problem for the 93s...

set of lifters, n someone who can install em properly, n bleed properly :D

you dont need to spash out on new lifters, unless you like to spend money on parts you dont need.

spend the money somewhere else, like going faster.........!

remove lifters get 3 trays of diesel fuel, a wire with .5mm thick bout 50mm long or so, soak the lifter in tray 1 and gentley with the wire press on the spring in the opening of the lifter and press on the spring with the wire to remove the build up of rubbish and go the same process in the 2 remaining trays, and repeat for all the after lifters.

then drain the oil while doin this then fill up with Motul or RedLine oil.

its something like that one of the others guys mite explain it betta.

i heard u can use engine oil flush but i dnt know if it does anything.

some workshops would charge between $200-$300 for this.
