Hey there,
I was looking over gt pumps website and it said that the td05-16g can be sent over to them and upgraded to a 20g with some dollars sent their way, so i emailed them and asked if i could do that, the response was.....

Hi Shaun,
we have found the outlet on the RVR turbo compressor housing is restrictive. We do not offer 20G upgrades for this turbo.

cheers,
regards,
Mark Boxsell

Wtf??? please explain, so what they are saying it CANT be done or they just refuse to? i want to use a 20g on my car, i was looking at the kando dynamics 20 cartridge and cover but was going to save time by getting them to do it.
SOMEONE HELP!!! :(
Funny thing is, a mate of mine was after a turbo to suit his evo 6, called them about their hta 73 and asked how it compared to the ATP gold and they said that i should look it up myself. He was gonna buy everything through them. How extremely rude...

That's ********* customer service IMO.

Vote with your wallet - Kando Dynamics FTW.

I've only heard good things about them, and intend to buy a Big 16G from them shortly.

Buy this instead!! :w00t: :w00t:

Go for a Kando TD06-20G For E3 or put the Subaru 20G Comp-housing on and eliminate some issues. :D
You mean this WRX comp cover milled for 20g with a 25psi actuator

Well then, that's the Answer we all want.
Manifold is my own diy that reacts very quick. A pr_ck to make, but worth every hour it took to make.
Same 16g/20g I've been using for 4yrs now. I purchased the 2nd hand WRX comp from Mark & ground a new cut at 90deg
to relocate the pin to face it down for the RVR. Made the 3mm S/S bracket for the Garret act & moved/welded the pivot arm
to suit the new actuator position. Plan is a safe VR401 tune at WOT & not use any BC. It is as stock as I can make it !
Cheers !

Okay so from what i can tell, u took the old 16 front housing and cartridge out, bought a 16 cartridge but instead of using a 20 front housing you got a wrx one and milled it to suit? so does that mean the front housing kandos cartridge kit comes with is no use to me? im so confused

4yrs ago - The turbo was a small 16g (same as a big 16g exh wise) & I brought a 20g wheel & a 34mm door exh housing.
John from precision turbos milled my old 16g comp cover to take the 20g wheel. Fitted the wheel & ballanced it.
Now it has a WRX comp cover on in that was milled to take the 20g wheel. Just turned & pinned it 90deg to face down.
The thrust bearings are thicker ones than the stock ones in a 16g.
Cheers !

You can buy the cartridge with out the front cover from them.
If you want to keep the turbo facing down like it is stock in a hyper, its no good to you. If you had one of the rvr's with the smaller, but upwards facing turbo you'd be fine.

You want to check the size of you exhaust wheel verses the older 16g's if your going to slot a cartridge where the wheels are copies of an early 16g's exhaust wheel, in your existing exhaust housing. Wonder if Mitsi changed the size at all as this is the latest 16g that's not reverse rotation (apart form the new evo 10 turbos)
Could you not get your stock housing milled to suit the 20g wheel. rather than get a wrx cover and do the same thing to it?

To be honest, i don't recon a td05 20g is going to be that great over your rvr 16g as they are the latest one and meant to be an awesome turbo.
Why not get the rest of the setup more sorted and when you cracking over 200kw at all 4 then upgrade, and you'll probably want larger than a 20g is that's the case.

Your going to loose the awesome response that turbo has to gain little, with the small td05 exhaust wheel.

Or if you go a 20g at least get a td06sl2 exhaust wheel on is so it actually flows up top when you crank the boost, so that 20g wheel can shine.
