Hi All,

Just a question regarding the TD05 Big 16G on Turbochargers.com:

http://www.turbochargers.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=68

This turbo works out to be $624 AUD (excluding Shipping) which to me sounds very cheap.

Are these genuine Mitsubishi Turbos? The website is split up into Garret, Turbonetics, GT Concepts, Subaru and Mitsubishi so I think they are.

Has anyone had any dealings with this mob? I mean the best price I have seen for a new TD05 Big 16G in Australia $1185.45 from Meek. Even with shipping from the US it would be well under $1000

I am looking at a normal TD05 16G(not BIG) for my GSR when I forge the inside. So if I can get a brand spanker for that sort of money I will do it rather than re-conditioning a second hand item.

I would recommend having a look at some of the turbo's available from garett if you are going for an upgrade.. Ball bearing turbo's are far better when compared to the older style Mitsubishi turbo's

I am looking at a Garrett GT2860R (360HP) for the 2L so either that one or the slightly smaller GT2854R (270HP) for the 1.8L

I saw these on an australian website for around $800 but I can't remember where now.. And I can't seem to find it in my history..

Just letting you know that there are other options as opposed to going Mitsubishi by default.

only thing is with the garrett turbo is that the standard manifold, dump pipe and cooler piping won't match up to it.

Will the Standard 4G93 manifold bolt up to the TD05? All I will need is a new dump pipe as the GSR one isn't big enough or good enough

That was one of the reasons I was staying away from the GT28's, T3/T4 style turbos as I wasn't really looking to change the manifold if its not necessary.

I am only looking for a faster street car which can perform better in a Motorkhana situation. I have been told on numerous occasions that the GSR is better suited to a motorkhana than an EVO, and with the right suspension set up should be faster.

You don't have to get a whole new manifold just weld a new flange on - but fair enough if your not keen on too much work then go with mitsu...

The 16g gt has a 34mm waste door.
A big Evo 16g has the std door size.
A 1 bar or 1.2 actuator adapted to your turbo will make it hold boost strong
Just another thought for you.
