would this then retain the spool of a 16g but with the extra flow of the 20g?
Yeah as far as I know that is the main factor to spool time with hot side being larger, yet an 18g and 20g would need larger volume of air to compress due to larger blade diameter so the revolution is larger compared to a 16g. It's not a major diff in spool time but 2-5k revs would make a diff track race wise. I always believe a stock motor was setup with the 16g as it was the most efficient setup for race application, if the engine, cams, ect are modded then larger cold side housing would be suitable for power efficiency. Just my understanding anyway ☺i always thought that the biggest contributing factor to spool was the turbine(hot-side) of the turbo. i know it'd be a combination of the two simply because of the fin design on the compressor but without changing anything on the hot-side i was expecting the compressor to still be spinning at the same speed as it's smaller bretherin. with only thing really slowing down the spool extra rotating mass
Wish I had the cash for the 20g, would be great to upgrade the spare E8 stock turbo I have sitting at home
