I wonder why I got quoted $3300 - I know the pillow ball top mounts were included in my Aussie distributor supplied quote, but surely they're not worth over $1200?

How long is the Aussie warranty for?

Surely the chances of a TEIN coilover failing in 12 months are extremely slim, and I could probably get anything that goes wrong resolved by Fulcrum anyway?

A saving of $100 - 200 bucks is $100 - 200 bucks in my pocket!

Was the quote for Super Streets, or MonoFlex, because the price definately sounds like the latter?

Just so you know, with Super Streets, adjusting the height also affects the spring preload, as they aren't body height adjustable.

They also have very soft valving compared to the MonoFlex, which make them comfortable for the street, but too soft for the track should you plan to go down that route.

IMO, they are just as crap as the cheaper ones, with a bigger price tag.

double adjustable lower legs are not legal for road use,
you cannot compare the quality of teins to k-sport/d2 etc they are way better.
they have alot softer springs which is better for handling anyway.
the spring rates that come with ss are only about 10% less that what I run on my circuit car,and the shock is decent enough to control the spring which is the main thing to consider when you want good handling. would to almost full hard they are good enough for most on the track and would back they work even better in the rain on the track..

imo unless your going to fork out for proflex/dms etc they are a solid choice for most.

I have no isse with them on the track. They perform well and my times are comparable with higher power evos running other brands of suspension.

Maybe you priced them a little while ago. I did pay $1850 from Fulcrum about 18 months ago but the price is determined by what exchange rate they pay for them.

I would suggest that anyone buying them should get a price fitted from a dealer as you may end up paying similar to what it will cost just to purchase the unit from Fulcrum.

No, my quote was obtained yesterday.

Thought I'd go to Fulcrum directly & rang their Capalaba store just now.

At first the guy said they don't have anything going back that far, only back to Evo 4 (getting REALLY sick of that!!)

Then he did find a part number, but they're are none in Oz at present, would have to come from japan.

Then the price (inc. frieght)........$4036!!!!:huh:

WTF is going on here??

My $2075 delivered from the perfectrun website is starting to sound like a good idea!!

i love my tein ss's they are pretty nuts suspension i havent tracked them but have given them a fair work out on some pretty fun roads they would be even better if i had better rubber... an i dont know much about suspension tuning so dare say they could be setup better still prob best buy for the car yet but i guess the 2.3 litre will be fun

Just came back from Fulcrum with a mate and had a look at a set of Teins for CE9A evos.

They're listed as 'Super Street' but are definitely the entire-package 'with the lot' and come with camber adjustable tops, helper springs, dust covers, bump stops, etc.

Actually from reading the S.S. and Type Flex specs, it seems that these are the latter.

Looks like a top quality set.

And just like boostboy, we got quoted $3300 as well. The guy was pretty flexible with pricing and said he will try and match internet prices. If we can bring it down to $2500 I'm going to force my mate to buy em.... and sell them to me in 2months time for less hahahaha

Type Flex don't have/need helper springs as the ride height is adjusted via the base, not the spring seat. Super Street's are available with or without the camber plates. Having tried SS's (in a skyline) I'd rate them the same about the same as a King Springs, KYB AGX shocks combo - they didn't offer much reduction in height beyond the kings either.

I am shocked by the price and didn't believe it so I just rang Fulcrum.

I paid $1900 only 18 months ago and their current price is $3300 + GST.

I then made the comment that you would look at DMS suspension at that price and he said that Tein SS were far superior.

I would buy from Perfectrun and have them shipped.

id definitely rather DMS over tein at that price.

However the base-model DMS do not come with camber plates etc

support them locals!

Wouldn't hotbits be better than the bc's?

The quote for my vr4 was cheaper than that with the DT1 series that are only one way adjustable dampening, but with the canister and helper springs. was about 1500US posted.

The next range up the DT2 with two way adjustable dampening, again with the canister and helper springs was around 2K US plus 180 postage.

I would have just though the one way adjustable dampener hotbits would be better then those bc's.

(can you tell ireally want a set:rolleyes:)

I just looked at their catalog and the base unit price is only 200 ringgit more than the vr4 units. Then for both you add on the cansiters and the helper springs.
So your quote would be pretty similar.

Yeah I'd go for Hotbits LONG before I'd even consider BCs. I lump BC into the "ZOMG LOOK I have COILOVERS" category.

Well thats like with all chinese Coilovers.

You have to ask yourself, 'why is it so damn cheap?'

Yes the labour in China is cheap, they have no understanding of OH&S, but more importantly to us is they have no strict Standards to follow when manufacturing these components.

Hence they can use cheaper grade raw material and a less strict manufacturing process to produce the product.
