I will post more pics as more gets done. At the moment the donor roof is just sitting on the supports, the new roof was actually a replacement on another cc which had only been glued on, hubby had a bastard of a time removing the glue.

MOre people should document there HOW TO's and host them on line, its the best way for others to learn about these cars.

Nice work.

hey im not doing it at this point just sanding it back and spraying the roof on this car for now dont have enough to take off and weld another so white roof to who needs ????
in melb :p

I joined the roof rust club... quiet expensive to fix at a panel beater, plus going to re-painting boot/spoiler/side skirts at the same time (~3k)

Stupid rust, was just hoping it wasn't too bad, and could just sand it back, treat it etc. From the outside I only have two or three bubbles popping up... meh

I'll repost the proton part numbers (cheaper than mitsu parts) from a different thread again to make it easier for others :)

Unless you're planning on keeping the car for the rest of your life there's a cheaper alternative.

if the rust isn't so bad you can do without having to re-weld a new roof on.

Just sand back to bare metal and get rid of all the rust with a wire brush.
rust convert it, prime it and it ready for paint!
This technique will be good for 5+ years if done properly.

had roof rust in the CE and attacked it from underneath.
Pulling the lining out is easy and you will find more underneath than is appearing on the top.
You can scrape it all out and treat it easily with convertor and tar to keep the air out then sand back and fill the top with an epoxy filler.
Will last longer than you keep the car for sure.
You don't need to weld a new skin in unless you are really keen on perfection.
