Im looking around for a new car.

A toy.

Fuel is expensive and i dont really want to be burning it up silly...Im really leaning toward a Type R integra, like an 02/03...

But i keep seeing these EVI's and VII's for the same price, mid 20's to 30.

Whats the scope on 6's and 7's?
Any major probs to look for?

it all depends on what your taste.. if you were looking at a integra type r, i'd recommend the model below the current ones.. the dc2r are much more fun to drive imo.. if can find a jdm one or one with just a jdm front it's a bonus.

I think you'll find the 6's drink more than the 7,8,9..
There are more detailed comparisons on evo-oz..

Good Luck.

If you want performance, then its probably safe to say that you can kiss fuel economy goodbye and throw it out the window!

If you want N/A, then honda's the way to go. My mate has a VTi-R in N.Z that blows EVO's away on the roll piece of cake.

Yeah, i dont really like the look of the dc2 though, its a more raw car, but it doesnt appeal too me, the DC5 is fat, especially dumped on rims..and the 2 litre is so much more responsive to mods..it opens its lungs alot easier than the 1.8...mod for mod

If the E7's/8's are less thirsty then id go there...is there any majors though?

Like blowing up transfer cases or hideous problems anyone has seen occur often?

yeap, it comes down to personal preference end of the day.. i just think the dc5r are too big and bulky.. the motor is the shiz tho..

Every 'performance' car is thirsty if you drive it hard...or even moderately hard.

If you want economy, like clutz said get something N/A...hell go a fucking Yaris.

new golf gt, supercharged, turbo 1.4 petrol....best of both worlds

gets 6-7litres per 100k driving easy and about 10-11 going hard

A Yaris!, full cage and watanabes.....!

yeah, understood, i guess im just looking for the least thirsty..im not aiming for a big power car either, just something fun...if i went evo, it'd only get a filter and exhaust.

I wouldn't say VI's are more thirsty than later model evo's, they are actually a bit lighter and run less boost, so I would be surprised if they did. If you want an economical car then don't buy and evo, although they are not much worse than other cars in their class, going average speeds on the hwy my TME uses around 10.5l on average, with a lot of city driving about a litre more. On track I have had as bad as 29l/100k. Another thing I would say is don't go cheap on these, they may be a cheap car to buy but upkeep is expensive if done properly, AYC needs servicing at regular intervals, they love eating clutches if driven hard, although my car is still on the original clutch. Servicing is normal as per any car if you do it yourself. Other than that the VI's at least are great if you get a good car, I have 0 problems with mine, common problems to look out for would be clutch, wastegate actuator (although a cheap and easy fix), check for rust or previous damage as these cars are usually not bought to be driven miss daisy. Good VI's and VII's can be had for around the 28k mark, VIII's and TME's around the low to mid 30's for very nice examples, VIIIMR's from mid to high 30's. Hope that helps.
