ok, to keep it simple for four days i could have thrashed the living f@#k out of the car and the dif should not have blown because of wheels, different sized wheels cause progressive damage to the gearboxnot one big blowout.

Well... what can I say, I am not interested in arguing the point. I am not responsible for your problems, you can drive around on different size tyres all you like. Good luck to you. Have fun wasting time and money.

Just remember to post up the pics of the internals of your centre diff, when you dismantle it, so we can see the damage as I have described it.

Amen.

An already worn centre diff can fail pretty much within 30 minutes of mismatched tyres, it's been proved on many occasions on the us gvr4 site.

Im going to leave this as my last post on this topic, I know that mismatched tyres can do considerable damage to a gearbox, my main aim was to point out to 3zercrowd that this was more likely the cause of my normal driving (anyone who knows how i drive can vouch for this) and to not elininate all other possible causes. My apologies if ive got anyone worked up on the matter i am deffinetly not saying anyone was wrong as everyone here probaly knows more than me about cars.

cheers dave

Likely and unlikely, it doesn't really matter. Driving on mismatched tyres is a well known 'no-no'. Doing it is just asking for trouble and whether or not other elements were involved, the mismatched tyres would have been a main contributing factor. Why you would do this at all, let alone giving it a thrashing, is beyond me.
