Hi guys...

Im bummed...

My car won't put out the horses I'm expecting...

What things should be taken into account regarding comparing two different dyno readings?

The scenario:

My car was dyno'd with the Piggyback ECU setup previously on it by Adrienne on his dyno at TODA and it hit 92kwatw, like 120hp at 5500rpm

TweakIT installed a new clutch, new clutch cylinders and line, walbro GSS-342, 390cc Mitsubishi injectors, Haltech E6X replaced piggyback+ECU & removed the AFM and installed MAP sensor and Apexi Power Intake filter.

It got dyno'd on their tuners dyno, can't remember the name right now, and it put out 116hp at 5450rpm, like 86kwatw...

It makes no sense...

I mean i guess there is no point comparing dyno readouts, there are too many factors involved, but it just doesn't make sense...

Why won't it produce the power!

You've hit the nail on the head... the dyno is more of a tuning tool than a testing tool. The only time that one could legibly compare two dyno readouts is if they were performed on the same dyno on the same day with relatively similar external settings.

Also consider that you last 'round' of mods are not really power increasing modifications. Yes they will make the car perform better, but in terms of max power they will do little for it. This is all with the exclusion of the ecu (and possibly the pod, but this depends on what air intake setup was on there before). Running MAP i would have believed that you could have gained something in the top end - but this can all come down to the tune. The haltech may not be tuned as well as the previous piggy back.

Focus on the actually driving/capabilities of the car - you seem like a smart enough lad, does the car feel better/more powerful/pull harder with the new mods/ecu?

Another thing to consider, maybe the new injectors are too large for your application causing some difficulty tuning?

just curious to know what size tyres are you running compared to stock?

rolling on stockie's - 16's

Missile,
Yeh you are right...

honestly, i don't have my license right now and i am being an ever so good boy so i cannot tell you yet..

Also, after speaking with David from RPW and the tuners at TweakIT & JEM, they all said the E6X will compensate for the injectors, that they were fine, cuz the ecu would take care of injector pulse duration...

i mean, that's the point of an EMS is it not?

you really think that perhaps a set of smaller injectors would be more beneficial? perhaps the stock ones, with a FPR?

I could try it i guess... i need to get it retuned already cuz i had my mechanic put on some new cam gears while replacing my timing belt and threw out my timing... all that dosh down the drain...

All i was hoping with the E6X and intake was to get more power up top... cuz it was just overfuelling, couldn't get enough air in above 6000rpm...

Mind you i haven't really driven it hard yet...

And i don't think i'll get too cuz now the timing is fucked i don't wanna test it till its fixed...

So... perhaps...

Swap to the stock injectors,
get a fuel pressure regulator
get JEM to tune it this time... 3rd times a charm! But means i'll get a third fkn different readout...

what do you rkn?

Every dyno reads differently- I wouldnt worry so much about it. there are so many factors that go into it- SAE correction etc- ambient air temp, level above sea level, type of dyno, brand of dyno, the list goes on.

Stock injectors, pump etc will be fine for mildly modded N/A cars. Unless you are going to spend thousands on an n/a you're still going to get limited results- even with a fully aftermarket ECU. Save yourself a whole lot of cash- just put it on the bottle and dont waste money on people trying to tune a piggyback

hmmm a NOS bottle you mean? lol

ahh i don't know...

I need to get the timing sorted, so i am gonna have to get it retuned anyway, maybe get tweakIT to tune it again, that way can compare results, and then see...

i'm gonna go with stock injectors, an FPR and Mobile8000

ahh i wish i could boost :-(
